Population Estimates For Oregon: July 1, 1994, Howard Wineberg, Population Research Center, Portland State University
Population Estimates For Oregon: July 1, 1994, Howard Wineberg, Population Research Center, Portland State University
Oregon Population Estimates and Reports
This report provides population estimates for Oregon, its counties, and cities for the years 1980 through 1994. As mandated by Oregon law (ORS 190.510 to 190.610), the Center for Population Research and Census at Portland State University, acting on behalf of the State Board of Higher Education, annually estimates the July 1 population for each county and incorporated city in Oregon. These population estimates are used in the allocation of certain state tax revenues to cities and counties.
This report has eight tables and five figures which provide detailed analyses of Oregon's current population data as well as an historical …

Water Resources Studies Along The Arkansas-Oklahoma Border, Kenneth F. Steele
Water Resources Studies Along The Arkansas-Oklahoma Border, Kenneth F. Steele
Arkansas Water Resources Center Technical Reports
The watershed approach to water resource issues recently has been re-discovered. Scientists and managers recognize the need to consider the entire watershed when delineating and solving today's water resource problems. A simple example is the effect that streams have on the ultimate "health" of a reservoir. Although technically the term watershed should be used only in reference to surface water, the importance of ground water is included in the watershed approach to problems. In recognition that we all "live upstream and downstream," the Arkansas Water Resources Center and the Oklahoma Water Resources Institute sponsored a conference titled "Water Resource Studies …
Psychosocial Predictors Of Health Risk Factors In Adolescents, Steve Sussman, Clyde W. Dent, Alan W. Stacy, Dee Burton, Brian R. Flay
Psychosocial Predictors Of Health Risk Factors In Adolescents, Steve Sussman, Clyde W. Dent, Alan W. Stacy, Dee Burton, Brian R. Flay
CGU Faculty Publications and Research
Previous research has confirmed the role of problem-behavior theory constructs as predictors of nonconventional behaviors such as adolescent drug abuse. No prospective study, however, has examined this theory's relevance to less extreme nonconventional adolescent behaviors, such as poor health practices. In the present study, an attempt was made to predict an index composed of seven health risk factor items measured in 8th grade from numerous variables measured in 7th grade selected to reflect personality, perceived environment, and behavior systems of problem-behavior theory. In addition, problem-behavior theory was compared in predictive efficacy to a wellness notion. Factor analysis did not support …

Implications Of Native Title Legislation For Fisheries Management And The Fishing Industry In Western Australia, Patricia Summerfield
Implications Of Native Title Legislation For Fisheries Management And The Fishing Industry In Western Australia, Patricia Summerfield
Fisheries Management Papers
This paper seeks to examine the key issues of both State and Commonwealth native title legislation for the fishing industry and fisheries management in Western Australia. Considerations for Aboriginal involvement in the industry and long-standing as well as recent concessionary arrangements for traditional usage of fish resources are examined. Industry reactions and future plans to accommodate native title in a positive framework are explored.

The Anchor, Volume 108.14: February 1, 1995, Hope College
The Anchor: 1995
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

South Dakota Coordinated Resource Management, James Johnson, Martin Beutler
South Dakota Coordinated Resource Management, James Johnson, Martin Beutler
Economics Staff Paper Series (1969 - 2017)
CRM is young in South Dakota. Operating MOU's were signed in December 1988 to accommodate traditional and emerging issues on private as well as public lands. It wasn't until 1994 that fiscal resources were assembled to provide intensive CRM training. The training is three tiered: (1) inform high level administrators and organizational leaders about CRM and solicit their support, (2) present 13 CRM Community Training workshops in 2·day sessions to local community leaders, including landowners and resource personnel, and (3) train a cadre of CRM facilitators in two a day sessions, both private and public, broadly dispersed in the state, …
Water Regulation Decisions In Central Kansas Affecting Cheyenne Bottoms Wetland And Neighboring Farmers, Leslie Aileen Duram
Water Regulation Decisions In Central Kansas Affecting Cheyenne Bottoms Wetland And Neighboring Farmers, Leslie Aileen Duram
Great Plains Research: A Journal of Natural and Social Sciences (through 2013)
A water use regulation order by the Chief Engineer of the Division of Water Resources of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture addressed a controversial issue: water allocation for agricultural, wetland, and urban users in Central Kansas. The specific study area includes Cheyenne Bottoms Wetland, a preserve with important habitat conditions for many migratory bird species. This region is economically dependent on irrigated agriculture. Groundwater withdrawal for irrigation had caused the water table to decline and left the wetland with no consistent water source. The Chief Engineer required many farmers to reduce their irrigation water use. An evaluation of this …
Hydroclimatic Perspectives On Waterfowl Production In The North Dakota Prairie Pothole Region, Paul Todhunter
Hydroclimatic Perspectives On Waterfowl Production In The North Dakota Prairie Pothole Region, Paul Todhunter
Great Plains Research: A Journal of Natural and Social Sciences (through 2013)
The North Dakota Prairie Pothole Region is one of the most unique and important wetland environments for waterfowl in North America. A water balance climatology is developed for this region for the period 1895-1990. A monthly water balance time series for the 96-year period was computed utilizing the Thornthwaite water balance methodology and a regional time series developed from area-weighted National Climate Data Center divisional data. Results illustrate the unique seasonal dynamics of the mean soil moisture regime, the frequency distribution of selected water balance variables over the period of record, and the large intra-annual and interannual variability which characterizes …

This edition marks the first issue of Great Plains Research under the editorship of J. Clark Archer.
The article, "Changing Employment Patterns on the Northern and Central Great Plains," co-authored by Richard E. Lonsdale and 1. Clark Archer and coincidentally printed in this issue, was accepted under the previous editorship of Clare V. McKanna, Jr. I have copyedited the article for this volume.
Review Of The Metropolitan Frontier: Cities In The Modern Americanwest By Carl Abbott, Eugene P. Moehring
Review Of The Metropolitan Frontier: Cities In The Modern Americanwest By Carl Abbott, Eugene P. Moehring
Great Plains Research: A Journal of Natural and Social Sciences (through 2013)
Carl Abbott enhances his reputation for excellence with this interpretive survey of the modern western city. He begins with World War II when heavy federal spending revitalized urban areas stagnating from twenty years of farm-mine depression. Abbott highlights the findings of Gerald Nash, Greg Hise and others while injecting his own scholarly insights at strategic points, a pattern that continues throughout the book. For example, he expands upon D. W. Meinig's concept of imperial Texas by extending Dallas-Fort Worth's range of influence far up into the Wyoming oil country. Then, building upon his own recently published work, Abbott develops further …
