The hypothesis of unbiasedness of the forward exchange rate as a predictor of the future spot rate has been subjected to extensive empirical testing. some researchers use the level form specification in which the actual spot rate is regressed on the k-period forward rate k periods age. While other use the percent change specification in which the k-period log change in spot rate is regressed on the forward premium /discount. An Attempt has been made in this paper to highlight the role of unincorporated enterprises in the Indian economy and the relevance of the economic reforms currently underway. The share of the unincorporated sector in national income, in manufacturing and in activities like transport, trade, construction, etc, is analysed. Savings and capital formation in the unincorporated sector are detailed. Finally, the implications of the recent economic reforms in the context of this sector, are discussed.

Nebraska's agricultural land values moved slightly upward during 1991 as the market operated in a mode of relative stability. The 15th annual UNL farm real estate market survey recorded an overall state average increase of 3.7 percent for the 12-month period ending February 1, 1992. This rate of change matched the u.s. rate of inflation during 1991, so in real (purchasing power) terms, there was essentially no change in average value.

This article examines an iconic form of communication, sound symbolism, which has been associated with oral cultures and implicated in paradigms of primitive mentality, I argue that Lowland Ecuadorean Quechua speakers use sound symbolic iconicity to create interlocutionary involvement. A speaker's performative foregrounding of a sound symbolic form simuhtes the salient qualities of an action, event, or process, and thereby invites a listener to project into an experience. This projected involvement, in turn, points the listener to deeper kinds of imaginative, intellectual, and emotional engagement with the narrative. A Nine Variable Probabilistic Macroeconomic Forecasting Model, Christopher A. Sims

A model for U.S. macroeconomic time series that has been used for forecasting for several years is described in some detail. The model is a multivariate Bayesian autoregression, with allowance for conditional heteroskedasticity, stochastic time-variation in parameters, and non-normality of disturbances. It specifies the prior distribution in ways that improve on previous Bayesian vector autoregression specifications in realism and forecasting performance. The model’s record of forecasting in recent years is displayed and discussed.

The possibility of greenhouse warming has received growing attention in recent years. Many scientific bodies are calling for severe curbs on the emissions of greenhouse gases. To date, the calls to arms and treaty negotiations have progressed more or less independently of economic studies of the costs and benefits of measures to slow greenhouse warming. The plan of the present study is to develop a dynamic, global model of both the impacts of and policies to slow global warming. The first part of the paper is a brief introduction to the concepts and methods used in recent endogenous business cycles models. Endogenous deterministic and stochastic fluctuations are bound to occur, under increasingly plausible assumptions, in models with individual optimization, market clearing and self-fulfilling expectations when there are capital market imperfections. The phenomenon is most likely to be observed, in a nonlinear framework, when some eigenvalue(s) of the system have a modulus close to 1 (unit roots).
