A Comparative Investigation Of The Differing Responses To The Good News Of The Gospel Among The Highland And Jungle Quechua Indians Of Ecuador, William Richard Lemon Jan 1969

A Comparative Investigation Of The Differing Responses To The Good News Of The Gospel Among The Highland And Jungle Quechua Indians Of Ecuador, William Richard Lemon

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Why does the Good News of the Gospel find greater response in some areas of the world than it does in other areas - even where there is a fairly close relationship geographically and culturally? This is one of the problems that the evangelical church is facing in some areas of Ecuador today. After many years of labor in some areas there has been little fruit, while in others there has been an abundant harvest - even to the amazement of some of the missionaries involved. It is the purpose of this project and report to investigate this paradox to …

A History Of Baptists In Clinton County, Timothy Cantrell Jan 1969

A History Of Baptists In Clinton County, Timothy Cantrell

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The purpose of this study is to present some of the history of the Baptist Church in Clinton County, Kentucky. A detailed study of the early church in the county also presents a picture of the county's social history as well because of the very close association between the individual and his church.

The scope of this study does not lend itself to presentation of the individual histories of all the Baptist churches in the county. It is, rather, the purpose of the author to cover the history of Baptists in the county by tracing the history of their two …

A Study Of The Role Of Churches In The Enactment Of The Arkansas Prohibition Law Of 1917, Ralph Bradley Hoshaw Jan 1969

A Study Of The Role Of Churches In The Enactment Of The Arkansas Prohibition Law Of 1917, Ralph Bradley Hoshaw

OBU Graduate Theses

Churches have been involved in the moral and ethical standards of the United States and its political subdivisions since the formation of the nation. Major questions about the churches' involvement as a social force in the nation or in the community concern: (1) the degree of involvement, (2) the methods employed and (3) the relative effectiveness of church influence upon the mores and laws of any society or state. To answer these questions, a historical study must be made of a particular moral problem in a specific locale and of the role that church influence or direct action played in …

Father's Use Of Time As Related To Father-Son Identification For A Selected Middle Class Mormon Sample, Charles F. Myler

Theses and Dissertations

This study was designed to investigate the possible relationship between the father's use of time and the identification between the father and the son. Several studies in the past have indicated that not only is identification important to the personality development of the son, but that how the father uses his time also affects the identification between the father and the son.

George Romney In 1968, From Front-Runner To Drop-Out, An Analysis Of Cause, Richard M. Eyre Jan 1969

George Romney In 1968, From Front-Runner To Drop-Out, An Analysis Of Cause, Richard M. Eyre

Theses and Dissertations

The meteoric political decline of George Romney is unparalleled in political history and in the history of presidential campaigning. In the space of one year, the man evolved from the overwhelming presidential favorite of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike to a presidential drop out, criticized severely and even mocked by press and public alike.

There are many opinions as to why this phenomenon occurred. The press has opinions, the public has opinions, and the people closest to George Romney have opinions.

A step by step analysis of Romney's campaign casts light on these opinions and completely discredits some while validating …

A Study Of Religious Experiences As Related To Church Orthodoxy, Joel Lane Tapley

Theses and Dissertations

In this thesis: (1) a religious experience typology was constructed and used to discover whether or not a sequential order existed of religious experiences from the least to most intimate type, (2) the relationship between religious experiences and church orthodoxy was examined, and (3) several background variables were investigated to clarify the above relationship.

The Utah Newspaper War Of 1968: Liquor-By-The-Drink, Raymond E. Beckham Sr. Jan 1969

The Utah Newspaper War Of 1968: Liquor-By-The-Drink, Raymond E. Beckham Sr.

Theses and Dissertations

A group of Utah citizens, supported by the Salt Lake Tribune, campaigned in May and June of 1968 to change Utah's liquor distribution system from a state-owned package method to one which would allow mixed drinks. Opponents of the change were supported by the Deseret News.

The two newspapers became the spokesmen for the two opposing groups. A careful analysis of them shows that of the 2,844.6 column inches of space in the Tribune, and of the 1,856.2 column inches in the News, exclusive of advertising, more than eight per cent in each newspaper supported the …

Joseph Smith As An Administrator, Gary Dean Guthrie Jan 1969

Joseph Smith As An Administrator, Gary Dean Guthrie

Theses and Dissertations

From extensive research undertaken by Rensis Likert at the University of Michigan, a modified theory of administration has been developed which seeks to build upon all that worked best in previous approaches to administration.

Sufficient information from the writings of Joseph Smith, from diaries and journals of those who worked under his leadership have been used in this thesis and compared with the model of administration proposed by Likert. The results of this work were that Joseph Smith in his administration most often used a leadership approach described by Likert as Consultative and Participative.

This thesis also presents a model …
