Relationship Of Personality Characteristics To Scholastic Achievement And Underachievement Of Talented College Students, Marjorie Regina Holmquist
Relationship Of Personality Characteristics To Scholastic Achievement And Underachievement Of Talented College Students, Marjorie Regina Holmquist
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
One of the major problems of the modern educational system is scholastic under-achievement by talented students. Until recently the typical study had been chiefly concerned with the correlation between level of ability and academic success, while many studies referred to the presumed relationship between emotional stability and academic achievement. On the college level such characteristics as failure to adjust to college life, poor study habits, lack of awareness of his real level of ability on the part of the student, and other such Causes have been tacitly assumed as the explanation for under- achievement
An Inquiry Into The Influences Of American Democracy On The Arab Middle East, 1819-1958, Edward A. Raleigh
An Inquiry Into The Influences Of American Democracy On The Arab Middle East, 1819-1958, Edward A. Raleigh
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this dissertation is to present en analysis of the American contributions to democracy in the Arab Middle East. Research will be confined, for the most part, to the American impact upon the United Arab Republic, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Iraq between 1819 and 1958. Yemen, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the Trucial Sheikdoms will be treated incidentally because the American impact was so slight as to be virtually non-existent; while Turkey, although not an Arab country, will be studied in some detail in the chapter on Education primarily because of Robert College and the part it played …

A Comprehensive Study To Determine The Teachers' Role In Politics, Hollie Wilford Crawford
A Comprehensive Study To Determine The Teachers' Role In Politics, Hollie Wilford Crawford
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
For many years a difference of opinion has existed regarding the role, if any, that a teacher should play in the political life of the community. There existed, and still exists, a great variance of opinion even on the part of teachers as to their political role. Some would have teachers set themselves completely apart from anything that even remotely resembles politics. Others would have teachers become deeply involved in the political life of the community. Heretofore no basis for participation in politics has been given other than personal opinion.
Should teachers participate in partisan politics? This single question states …

A Study Of The Congressional Hearings On The Dismissal Of General Macarthur, Byford Scott
A Study Of The Congressional Hearings On The Dismissal Of General Macarthur, Byford Scott
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The eye witnesses against MacArthur were members of the Truman Administration. Acheson and Marshall were the principal critics of MacArthur’s stand. Secretary Acheson testified that MacArthur had done a fine job in Japan and our allies agreed without policy there. Acheson replied to the alleged lack of policy by making a distinction between our policy and our war aims. Our policy in Korea looked to a unified, independent democratic government, but our war aim was to stop the attack on South Korea. Regarding the proposal that the United States take unilateral action if our allies did not support us, he …
