The Tenth Anniversary Of The Uwm Open Access Publication Fund, Svetlana Korolev

UWM Libraries Other Staff Publications

The UWM Open Access Publication Fund has supported 127 articles for the total amount of $109,100 since 2012. For the past three years, the fund assisted 32 corresponding authors affiliated with 18 different departments, to publish open access articles in 31 journals. UWM publications and citations were analyzed in Web of Science. As a general trend, the UWM output has declined, but the portion of all open access publications remained steady at 40%, and grew for Gold journals from 12% to 16%. The objective of this study is to report the outcome of the bibliometric analysis of Open Access (OA) journals in veterinary and animal sciences (VAS) indexed by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).The DOAJ which indexed 16,460 open access journals as on 10 June 2021, contains 335 open access veterinary and animal science journals (2.03%) and provides access to 1,63,500 articles which is about 2.63% of the total articles. The Internet is a huge source of free and openly available information. However, the awareness about open source information amongst faculty and students is not known. The objective of this study is to explore the awareness and use of open access resources (OARs) by Faculty and students of Ponda Education Society’s (PES’s) colleges. A questionnaire-based survey method has been used in this research. A questionnaire was designed in Google Forms and was sent to 400 library users. The present study is a bibliometric analysis of 328 articles from 11 volumes published in International Journal of Digital Curation published by University of Edinburgh, U.K from 2006-2017. The study is based on three basic objectives in terms of yearly distribution of articles, authorship pattern and degree of collaboration in the journal. Data collection is done from DOAJ. The result revealed that year 2009 was the most fruitful year with 46 articles, Single authorship showing highest contribution and extent of collaboration recorded is considerable with a overall value of 0.69.
