This cookbook, published in 1996, grew out of the annual Taste of Columbia events held to raise scholarship funds for students living in the first residence hall on the South Loop campus that opened in 1993. The residence hall had apartment style spaces with kitchens and since "students need to eat and sleep before they can study" this book was produced to make sure students ate more than vending machine meals. The resulting cookbook contains recipes compiled from students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, friends, and others in the Columbia College Chicago community. Workdays, Workhours And Work Schedules: Evidence For The United States And Germany, Daniel S. Hamermesh

Hamermesh presents the first comprehensive evidence explaining how days of work, hours of work, and daily schedules are determined in the U.S. and Germany. Using an instantaneous approach to looking at unique data sets for each country, Hamermesh provides comparative analyses on factors influencing both employees' and employers' work schedules. This technique allows him to offer a new "snapshot" perspective on work scheduling that clarifies the role of fixed costs of getting to work and of adding workdays to plant schedules.
