Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is routinely implemented in development and planning to deter crime and to prevent opportunity for criminals. This study focused on shopping malls and shopping centers as they are important places where Americans spend a lot of their leisure time. There are a variety of activiites occuring at the malls as well as many types of crimes. This study examined the level of CPTED used in shopping centers in the assessment of public fear of crime.

The purpose of this study was to examine a 149-day period surrounding the capture of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein on December 13th, 2003. Daily stock returns were obtained from ten major stock market indexes, five from emerging Middle Eastern countries and five from established markets such as the United States and Japan. The ultimate significance of this study is that it can provide insight into whether or not the change of regime in Iraq had a stabilizing or destabilizing impact on the emerging markets of Iraq. The purpose of this study was to identify needs of the elderly population 65 years and older, who reside in the Twentynine Palms area by conducting secondary analyses of data collected from a needs assessment survey administered by the San Bernardino County Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) from 2005. This study highlited the barriers that the residence of Twentynine Palms found to be most important. The barriers focused on in this paper will assist social workers in focusing on the urgent needs of these residents.

The primary goal of the present study is to explore the relationship between early attachment experiences and later perspective-taking ability in young adults. Perspective-taking is important for the development of social skills, prosocial behaviors, and to ensure positive social interaction with others. A total of 165 undergraduate students were recruited from a midsized southwestern university and were asked to complete a questionaire assessing attachment security, perspective-taking, egocentrism, empathy, and narcissism.

This research will examine the movements of juvenile deliquents residing in the desert communities of Southern California. The purpose of this study was to shed light on the distances routinely traveled by juvenile delinquents to reach their activity places, including recreational locations and school. The research used juveline offender data from an ongoing evaluation of a Riverside County, California youth diversion program. The underlying purpose of this study was to examine how the social portrayal of Asian Americans, with social identity as the moderator, may impact their career preferences for Investigative/Realistic professions. The role of Asian Americans' self-efficacy in math/science was also explored in the self-stereotyping process. Asian American undergraduate students of all majors were recruited electronically. Professors of Engineering and other science departments from the University of California, Riverside, Irvine, and Los Angeles were contacted via email and were asked to assist with recruitment by forwarding the message to students. This study extends the findings of Elder and Rudolph by predicting that thinking about retirement and the attendance at planning meetings are positively related to both reitrement satisfaction and adjustment. As a result, this study examined the relationship between the predictor variables of formal and informal planning with the criterion variables of retirement satisfaction and retirement adjustment using archival data from the first wave (1992) of the nationally representative Health and Retirement Study (HRS). In addition, this study examined whether length of retirement moderates the relationship between formal and informal planning and retirement satisfaction and retirement adjustment.
