In our modern world the problems or government are never simple. The tasks of coordinating, directing and promoting the political, social and economic affairs or a people usually present problems of the utmost complexity. Particularly is this true under the system or government embodied in our Federal constitution. This thesis traces the governmental development of the City of Hampton, Virginia. Some historical data is given concerning the settlement of the area which is now Hampton and of its history as a part of Elizabeth City County before its incorporation as a town. From this point on the emphasis is placed upon the evolution of the government of the Town of Hampton and later the City of Hampton. Some critical comment on the structure and organization of the government is scattered throughout the paper but it is mainly concentrated in one Chapter which deals with Hampton 's present government.

I became interested in learning more of the personalities of the tuberculous and how they might be helped through any knowledge gained from the administration of personality inventories.

Educators find it helpful to evaluate not only the general vocabulary ability of the college student, but also the more specialized directions which the development of the student 's vocabulary may take.
The author's interest in this problem grew out of the results obtained with freshmen in the Westhampton College orientation program in September 1948. Since 1920 the Commonwealth 0£ Virginia bas had an organized Civilian Vocational Rehabilitation Program, having enacted the legislation creating the Service. a few weeks prior to the passage of the Federal Act in June of that year. A national consciousness of tho crippled and disabled had been awakened following World War I which culminated in the Veteran Rehabilitation Act. The present study of conversion is approached through the medium of psychology, which, like the Christian religion, is extremely interested in human beings. Christianity owes to psychology a great debt of gratitude for the light which it has thrown upon the vast recesses of the human mind and upon the possibilities in the personality which Christianity would convert.
