The study investigated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competence and the use of electronic resources by university faculty members in Ilorin metropolis, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised faculty members in Al-Hikmah University and University of Ilorin. Raosoft Online Sample Size Calculator was used to calculate the sample size with precision levels of 5% and confidence level of 95% and the recommended sample size was 309. Purpose: The study seeks to elicit information on gender difference with regards to the familiarity with IT, Search Engines, Automated Library Services and Electronic Information Resources. It also aims to determine the frequency of use of various Automated Library Services and Electronic Information Resources and the influence of the Internet on the information seeking behavior of the postgraduate students.

Awareness And User Pattern Of E-Resources Among The Research Scholars In Alagappa University: A Study, Ayyanar K, Thirunavukkarasu A, Jeyshankar R

The study analyzed the awareness and usage of e-resources among 110 research scholars of Alagappa University. A well-structured questionnaire was used for data collection and MS Excel software was used for analyzing the data. The study revealed that majority of the respondents are female 84(76.4%) and 75(62.8) % of respondents are M.Phil. research scholars and less respondents from Ph.D. scholars. Most of respondents 30(27.2%) used the library fortnightly, 22(20%) of respondents use library daily. The study investigates the use of electronic resources by the science faculty and research scholars in five universities of North India. Survey method was employed and the data was collected using a comprehensive questionnaire. The results obtained from 668 respondents indicated that the usage was highest for e-journals in comparison to other e-resources. Preference is given to search engines in finding information which is chiefly used for research and related purposes.
