It was a core commitment from the outset in 2010, when discussions began on the formation of an ICT Coalition spanning the whole ecosystem of internet-connected devices and online services, that any such self-regulatory initiative would need to demonstrate its commitment to independent assessment of its members’ achievements in online safety, given the concerns of the public and other stakeholders in this area.
