This case is ideal for an upper-level finance course that has an emphasis on short-term financial management. Despite significant advancements in electronic payment systems, most U.S. firms continue to pay invoices with paper checks mailed to suppliers. So long as the checks are received by the due date, firms are in compliance with supplier credit terms. However, paper checks must be processed and recorded by the supplier, deposited in the supplier’s bank, and cleared against the payer’s bank before the cash is transferred from the payer’s checking account to the supplier’s checking account. Although Marx himself did not explicitly theorize the media, his postulations and adumbrations about the dialectics of cultural and ideological mediation have provided a robust springboard for a Marxist theory of themedia. In this article, I briefly chronicle the trajectory of scholarship and research on the mass media u,sing the Marxist paradigm and coalesce the disparate corpus of broad research traditions and paradigm shifts thathave occurred within the Marxist critical tradition. I conclude by calling attention to the points of convergence between Theodor Adorno and other Marxist media theorists. This article examines the important role that continued collection and preservation of women’s history plays in contemporary archival scholarship. Women's history is a vast field, but its collection and development has not garnered the same amount of attention as that of men’s history. Covering collection attempts, repositories and preservation practices from the 1930s, through and including today, this paper analyzes both the successes and failures of preserving women’s history for continuing access, scholarship and research, underscoring the importance of these collections. Although the flipped classroom concept has gained attention in the media and professional literature in the past year, versions of this instructional delivery method have existed for some time. Librarians and other educators have created tutorials and other learning objects as a means of supplementing and supplanting traditional face-to-face instruction. Librarians at Georgia State University are experimenting with using learning objects to teach basic skills, while scheduling face-to-face workshops and instruction sessions to delve deeper into discipline-based research processes. The skills and processes of ADR are indeed more broadly dispersed throughout society. Over the past decade, ADR and Conflict Resolution (CR) concepts and skills have been added to the core curricula and continuing education trainings in most fields, from law and medicine to engineering, education, and business management. The term “mediation” is rarely confused with “meditation” as it once was. Increasingly, terms like “mediation”, “arbitration”, and “ombudsman” are used in the media without the need to define them for the general public. This article examines the issue of whether linguistics is better suited for a face-to-face (F2F) environment than an online teaching environment. Specifically, it examines assessment scores and student perceptions of the effectiveness of an introductory linguistics course at an undergraduate state university that has been taught multiple times in both online and F2F modes. To study this issue data was collected about the types of students enrolled in either version of the course, including their GPAs and course grades. How Spokesperson Rank And Selected Media Channels Impact Perceptions In Crisis Communication, Jieun Lee, Sora Kim, Emma K. Wertz

This study examined the impact of spokesperson’s rank and selected media channels in crisis communication by employing different ranks (i.e., CEO and communication director spokespersons) and media channels (blogs, websites, and newspapers). Findings indicated that CEO spokespersons were more effective in terms of lowering publics’ crisis responsibility attributions than communication director spokespersons and that blogs were more effective in lowering crisis responsibility attributions than websites and newspapers.

This collection seeks to assemble and make visible the historical and contemporary voices of bi-directional solidarity between Palestine and the Pan-African world. Shared struggles against colonialism, racism, apartheid, settler violence, historical erasure, patriarchy, class exploitation, and other forms of oppression link Pan-African and Palestinian communities throughout all periods of their often intertwined and overlapping histories. This is particularly true in the period of anti-colonial independence struggles, especially following the 1967 war, and in the global BDS movement today. But it is also continuous throughout the twentieth century, and especially since the Nakba in 1948. Because much of this history is …

In this dissertation the author hypothesizes that (H1): In Africa, countries that use majoritarian electoral systems are more likely to experience post-election conflicts than are countries that use proportional electoral systems, (H2): In Africa, countries that use majoritarian electoral systems are more likely to experience post-election conflicts than are countries that use mixed electoral systems, and (H3): In Africa, countries that use mixed electoral systems are more likely to experience post-election conflicts than are countries that use proportional electoral systems.

These hypotheses are tested by using both primary qualitative and secondary quantitative data analyses in order to answer the research …

Historically, racial identities in the United States of America have operated on a binary platform of ethno-racial consideration. In turn, this system has classified most racially ambiguous members of society into categories that fail to acknowledge the complexity of their ethnic and racial identities. These pre-determined classifications have lasting effects on the accessibility of opportunities and the social spaces available to ethno-racially unidentifiable members of society. These groups of racially ambiguous Americans, however, challenge the efficacy of an 'either/or' binary system. The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of the Miranda warnings on law enforcement conducting interrogations and the impact they have made on the criminal justice system. Interrogations conducted by law enforcement are a valuable tool to obtain confessions to crimes. The Miranda warnings were established to protect individuals suspected of committing a crime by safeguarding and cautioning them to remain silent and have an attorney present if requested during custodial interrogation. This article explores and describes social innovation, social intrapreneurship, and social entrepreneurship practiced by social workers within human service organizations. Each year, the nature and complexity of clients’ problems and challenges experienced by communities continuously evolves and grows. These challenges call for social workers to lead and facilitate social change that can have a lasting impact on communities and people. The authors report findings from an exploratory, descriptive study conducted with ten social workers on these practices. The findings point to the need to develop and integrate these contents within social work education and further promote dual-degree graduate programs.
