Neologisms are words that have recently entered our language but are only just beginning to be accepted as part of daily usage. As the English language evolves, new neologisms are formed while the usage of certain words may fade into relative obscurity. New words are coined to reflect the changing moods and cultural needs of the time. When it comes to critical race theory, neologisms can be used as a method of spreading awareness and addressing a problem. While scholarly communication is a well-established sub-discipline within academic libraries and influences so many areas of librarianship (Finlay et al, 2015; Xia and Li, 2015; Brantley et al,2017), it’s not commonly addressed within formal LIS training (Bonn et al, 2020), which may contribute to increased pressure to learn on the job, to burnout, and to elevated experiences of imposter syndrome (Owens, 2021). According to a 2016 survey of both four-year and community colleges, about seven percent of students experienced homelessness. Kennesaw State University (KSU) is not immune to those statistics. The first KSU homeless student was identified in the late 1980s. Since then, the number of students experiencing homelessness and food insecurity has grown every academic year. In the past three years, there has been a 98 percent increase in demand to help feed food insecure students on KSU’s two campuses.

Calls to transform the initial Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) standards to reflect social justice have garnered little attention. Recent events have magnified the racial injustices inflicted upon Black people in America and their ability to participate as full equals in a society influenced and characterized by white supremacy. Using critical race theory (CRT) as a framework, the authors examine the racial formulation of the historical and current installations of SHAPE America’s initial PETE Standards to illustrate the influence of white supremacy in PETE programs, the relationship to physical literacy, and the impact on Black students. As COVID-19 rapidly spread across the globe, every government in the world has been forced to enact policies to slow the spread of the virus. While leaders often claim responses are based on the best available advice from scientists and public health experts, recent policy diffusion research suggests that countries are emulating the COVID-19 policies of their neighbors instead of responding to domestic conditions. Political and geographic considerations play a role in determining which countries imitate one another, but even among countries that are politically or geographically distant, nationalist regimes seem to favor certain approaches towards the pandemic. An analysis of electronic resource usage at a regional university in the southeast during the COVID-19 pandemic showed interesting results. While it was anticipated that movement to online instruction would increase usage of electronic resources, it was discovered that overall usage actually declined for those resources. Virtual reference transactions, however, increased during the pandemic. When meas-uring downloads of full-text of both journals and e-Books in the health sciences, humanities, social sci-ences, and physical sciences, it was discovered that the first three subject areas showed a double digit percentage decline in use, with only the physical sciences showing a decline of …

This essay recounts the steps we took to launch the new Distilling, Fermenting, and Brewing Collection in our Special Collections department. It began with the routine task of weeding our general collection but quickly led to other activities which included a broader collection analysis; consideration of campus, local and state resources; consultation with development and fundraising staff; and research in the anti-quarian trade. The decision to undergo body modifications can be done for a myriad of personal reasons, ranging from a love of the art, an expression of the person's individuality, the display of an affiliation, or for religious and/or spiritual beliefs. In the winter of 2020, our research team set out on a quest to discover the culture of acceptance of body modifications, including tattoos, piercings, and unnatural hair colors, among those who work in and use libraries in the United States of America. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is clear about the worsening shortage of doctoral qualified faculty. It is the proposition of this paper that business schools should consider evaluating and perhaps reinvigorating recruitment strategies in both the short- and intermediate-term, as well as developing marketing management strategies that will help alleviate business faculty shortages in the long-term.
