The Georgia Tech Library recently launched a series of multi-language welcome videos for students and faculty. The videos, which are available in French, Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, Hindi, Tamil, Spanish and English, are available 24 hours a day on the Library’s YouTube page. They were produced completely in-house using native speakers in the Library and across the Institute.

This article describes a Mental Health Awareness Day event hosted by the Dorothy W. Hightower Collaborative Learning Center & Library at Gordon State College (GSC) during Mental Health Awareness Month. The purpose of the event was to help alleviate stress for the GSC college community during the final exam period by providing mental health resources and low-stress activities participants.

Archiving Living Historical Narratives With Youth Participatory Action Research, Leah Panther, Elizabeth Burbridge, Robbie Barber, Rosi Sanchez

As part of an interdisciplinary place-based summer program, the three adults and nine youth explored local communities as a co-researchers, seeking to preserve and sustain their community’s literacies, histories, and stories. Youth co-researchers led the data collection, analysis, and creation of archival resources to capture community literacies, histories, and stories that expanded beyond traditional print-centric resources and archival collections management systems. From our youth co-researchers we learned: (1) prioritizing people as archival sources, (2) living historical narratives lead to critical readings of historical artifacts, and (3) public digital composing practices with historical narratives and historical artifacts. Identifying Driving Factors Of Inundation Susceptibility In Thailand With The Frequency Ratio Method, Zachary Zoet, Jim Wilson

Inundation models tend to cover geographically small areas at large-scales. Inconsistencies in research design arising from data classification methods and consensus about unit of analysis, and agreement on the choice of a consistent modeling method can lead to confusion in the selection of appropriate models for different inundation scenarios. To address these concerns, this study aims to expand on the Frequency Ratio Method, using 13 quantitative and qualitative variables, as a generalizable method that can be applied consistently across larger administrative areas such as the province. The ultimate product of this is a Flood Susceptibility Index (FSI), which can be …

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains and caused wide market disorders. Its disastrous impact on the world economy exposed the vulnerability of globalized production systems and led to discussions on the responses to such a crisis. These responses, including a new global spatial organization of supply chains, challenged our conceptual understanding, assumptions, and application of location theory in the spatial organization of economic activities. Through reviewing the literature, we outlined the pandemic’s profound economic disruption and identified firms’ applicable responsive strategies through Industry 4.0 solutions and management adaptions. Beyond cultural ties and economic demands, considerations of the conditions of the natural environment may play a role in determining which U.S. state to reside within. Every year, millions of people suffer from the effects of natural hazards such as avalanches, blizzards, earthquakes, extreme cold, extreme heat, flooding, hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and wildfires. The recorded actual occurrence and frequency of these natural hazards, in addition to public perception of the danger of individual natural hazards, shapes an idea of relative concern for these natural hazards.
