How can we integrate the principles, practicalities, and complexities of open educational resources (OER) and open access scholarly literature into graduate-level education? At the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), the popular and successful Open Knowledge Fellowship offers a much-needed intervention in doctoral education by addressing these topics and associated debates. Between 2020 and 2025, the intensive six-week Fellowship program was offered 12 times and trained over 200 doctoral students from across the disciplines in the selection and use of openly licensed resources in the courses they teach. As cyberthreats to critical infrastructure remain prevalent, national response mechanisms must evolve beyond the technical domain to incorporate legal, communicative, strategic, and cross-sector coordination. This work explores Locked Shields, an annual exercise conducted by NATO's Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, as a pedagogical and conceptual framework for simulating whole-of-government responses to cyber incidents. Unlike traditional cyber exercises, Locked Shields engages legal advisors, media strategists, and civil-military roles in realistic, scenario-driven simulations that portray the political and operational conditions of a real international-scale cyber crisis. Managing eBook hold times while adhering to budget constraints is a critical challenge for public libraries. In a budgetary landscape where models of licensing and cost are in constant flux, this article offers a snapshot in time of strategies employed by the Fulton County Library System (FCLS) in Atlanta, Georgia, during Spring and Summer 2024. Librarians deployed a multi-pronged approach of daily carts in OverDrive, daily monitoring and response to patron holds and recommendations, daily updates of OverDrive records and bi-weekly updates of Hoopla records to meet patron demand. Chat transcript analysis studies are a proven method of evaluating levels of instruction and patron satisfaction. For more than 20 years, Odum Library at Valdosta State University has offered chat service but had never conducted an assessment. In summer 2024, three reference librarians at VSU reviewed literature and developed a means of evaluating 520 chat transcripts from spring semester 2024. Using a codebook implemented through a Qualtrics form, the researchers analyzed transcripts to examine the ways library reference staff responded to chat questions and to develop a list of best practices. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence partnered with the Jim Cherry Learning Resources Center at GSU's Clarkston Library to launch an innovative literacy initiative during the 19th annual GSU Sources Pre‑Conference. Anchored by the theme “Seeing Ourselves in the Algorithmic Future of Education,” the program examined how emerging technologies intersect with creativity, literacy, community problem solving, and storytelling.
