Since the end of World War II, football in its institutionally organized forms has provided German citizens with a means of reconstructing national identity in a way that is considered politically “safe” in light of the country’s fascist past. As the sport and the culture surrounding it are normally viewed as an apolitical realm, the feedback effects from football on society have been under-researched and widely under-acknowledged, particularly in relation to discrimination in football and the repercussions it may have on society at large. هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى علاقة مستوى الرضا الحركي بمستوى التعلم المهاري (الأداء) لسباحة الزحف على البطن لدى طالبات كلية التربية الرياضية في جامعة اليرموك على عينة تكونت من (49) طالبة من الطالبات المسجلات في مساقات السباحة في كلية التربية الرياضية في جامعة اليرموك. واستخدمت الباحثة المنهج الوصفي، ومقياس الرضا الحركي والاختبارات المهارية لقياس مستوى الأداء في السباحة. توصلت الدراسة إلى أن أفراد عينة الدراسة يتمتعن بمستوى متوسط من الرضا الحركي، وأن هناك علاقة وثيقة ما بين مستوى الرضا الحركي ومستوى الأداء لسباحة الزحف على البطن. وتوصي الباحثة على ضرورة التأكيد على مفهوم الرضا الحركي وتعزيزه لدى المتعلمين للمهارات الرياضية من …

هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى مستوى الدعم الاجتماعي لدى طلبة مساقات الجمباز في كلية التربية الرياضية في جامعة اليرموك، اعتمدت الدراسة على الأسلوب الوصفي المسحي، وتم تطبيق الاستبانة على عينة عشوائية بلغت (80) طالباً وطالبة من طلبة مساقات الجمباز مستوى (تعليم وتدريب1+2). أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن مستوى المساندة الاجتماعية لدى طلبة كلية التربية الرياضية جاء مرتفعاً، حيث أن المتوسطات الحسابية لجميع مجالات مقياس المساندة الاجتماعية جاءت بدرجة تقييم مرتفعة، حيث جاء بالمرتبة الأولى مجال المساندة من قبل الزملاء، وبالمرتبة الثانية مجال "المساندة من مدرسين مساقات الجمباز، وبالمرتبة الثالثة والأخيرة جاء مجال "المساندة من الأسرة، وكشفت الدراسة عدم وجود فروق إحصائية في …

The role of athletes is to follow the lead of their coaches, captains, and other teammates while working towards the shared goal of team achievement. However, collegiate athletic participation is often attributed to the development of leadership skills. The purpose of this study was to advance the understanding of followership development within athletics. Further, I sought to understand better the perception of student-athletes and coaches on how athletic involvement contributed to the development of followership skills and leadership skills. The poster presentation was originally presented at the 2023 annual conference of the Southwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (SWACSM), following peer-review acceptance of the project summary statement (i.e. abstract) for conference presentation.

In recent years, research examining new sport teams has emerged. A total of ten senior sales and market executives were interviewed from recent expansion teams from Major League Soccer (MLS) to analyze team brand development for this study due to its continued expansion efforts across North America and the fact that the MLS continues to compete for market share against other “Big Four” sport teams in their respective cities. Utilizing content analysis, findings from this study identified four themes when developing a new team brand. Trauma Prevalence And Desire For Trauma-Informed Coaching In Collegiate Sports: A Mixed Methods Study, Elizabeth Alma Hertzler-Mccain, Aerin Mcquillen, Shalini Setty, Stephanie Lopez, Erica Tibbetts

Exercise and Sport Studies: Faculty Publications

This study investigated trauma prevalence amongst collegiate student-athletes and openness towards trauma-informed coaching practices among athletes and coaches at two small Division III colleges. Surveys gathered quantitative data from athletes (n = 91) and coaches (n =18) and qualitative data from athletes (n = 33). Quantitative results indicated that 52.7% of athletes experienced at least one potentially traumatic event during their lifetime. The most prevalent trauma was unwanted sexual contact. Additionally, 50.5% of athletes experienced sport-based harassment or abuse during their lifetime, with 21.7% of affected athletes experiencing said abuse in college sports.
