In the United States, the lack of availability and support around maternity leave results in mothers rushing back to the workforce soon after childbirth. Topics such as breastfeeding, physical trauma, postpartum depression, and working while in the postpartum period, all pile together to paint a picture of what it means to be a new mother in America. Through the use of qualitative data and academic sources, the article's findings conclude that health and bonding between the mother and baby are interconnected. India gained a new economic orientation in 1991 following the policy of economic liberalization. It offered the opportunities to close the gender gap in various fields including the political field as visualized in the original goal of the Indian constitution. In 2022, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) committed $100M towards expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging stations statewide. The policy goal is to provide EV fast-charging capacity[1] for four vehicles per station over the Interstate 5 and 84 corridors, along with the US 101, 97, 26, and 20 corridors. ODOT’s investment establishes clear statewide EV charging corridors for the traveling public, not only in the most populated corridors but also across the more rural parts of Oregon and connecting to neighboring states. Community-based sanitation (CBS) is a sanitation service option with technical and institutional assistance for poor urban communities to develop sanitation infrastructure in urban areas and treat domestic wastewater in small-scale sanitation systems. The Indonesian government has implemented critical policy interventions and investments to upgrade sanitation access nationwide since the early 2000s. This research will answer how policy monitoring and governance affect community-based sanitation program delivery through cost-effectiveness analysis. A walking tour of downtown Portland in August 2021 raises questions for the writer about the purpose of “memory activism,” its relation to writing-as-activism. Drawing on critiques of urbanist Jane Jacobs and interrogating the concept of “reckoning,” the essay explores ways in which the streetscape and people there can deliver meaning and pose questions about systemic racism and unsheltered existence.

Long after other areas of Oregon had already done so, the local agencies in the Portland region served by the Oregon Department of Transportation decided to form a regional Area Commission on Transportation. Why they decided to do so and what caused local agencies to delay forming one until long after other regions was not immediately clear. Accounting is the practice of measuring, documenting, and reporting on the economic dimensions of an organization, institution, or activity. Traditional views of accounting see it as a value-free technique to provide information for decision-making, and as such, compliance with standard accounting practices bestows legitimacy. In the 1970s and 1980s, critiques of the view of accounting as a neutral tool for rational decision-making emerged. This study compared persuasive strategies of the governments of the U.S. and China during a public health crisis using social media messages. Collecting data with R and Python from two national public health sectors' official accounts on Twitter (N = 1,630) and Sina Weibo (N = 3,554), the researcher investigated how the organizations' messages reflected Cialdini's seven principles of persuasion and whether other emergent messaging patterns occurred. The U.S. has incorporated environmental policies into its all free trade agreements since it negotiated the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in the early 1990s. The inclusion of environmental policies represented a major shift in trade policy but the environmental policies have not drastically changed in subsequent trade agreements over the past 25 years despite the continued involvement of environmental constituencies and policymakers. In order to make good microeconomic policy in the public sector, non-rivalrous goods and joint costs need to be addressed. One field where non-rivalrous goods and joint costs are important to consider is in the economics of peak-load pricing and transportation policy. This concept is often applied to electrical utilities, but not often applied as a way to relieve the burden of downtown traffic congestion during peak traffic times or to increase city revenues. This paper applies public policy concepts such as agenda setting, resource allocation, lobbying, and campaign rhetoric to the field of homeland security. The analysis examines the allocation of resources among the U.S. federal government’s five broad homeland security priorities during the fiscal years of 2012-2017. An overemphasis on border security has led to a disproportionate allocation of resources among these various priorities. The uneven distribution is the summation of electoral ambitions, campaign contributions, and corporate lobbying. In 46 years of public service, Mark Hatfield never lost a political campaign. Despite being campaigned against from the political right and left, the people of Oregon elected and reelected him 11 times. Today, a good portion of Oregon’s infrastructure bears the Hatfield name. This Journal shares that honor, and we believe that to the best of our abilities it should share his courage and conviction. Oregon's energy system is evolving to reflect the stated legislative priorities of decarbonization, decentralization, and diversification. This report outlines several policy instruments (Renewable Portfolio Standards, Net Metering & Interconnection Standards, Tax Incentives, Public Benefit Funds, and Energy Efficiency Standards) available to the state, their alignment with the stated goals of the state, their utilization and effectiveness in other states, and the political considerations surrounding their implementation in the state of Oregon. Co-Predatory Rule: International Cooperation With Respect To Cryptocurrency Taxation In Russia And Belarus, Jim Mignano

This article presents an example of how globalization and digitization force states to rely on international organization. Examining tax policy with respect to cryptocurrency—an innovative, global technology—the implication is that a state levying taxes on cryptocurrency must turn to international monitoring and enforcement regimes to support effective taxation. Based on Margaret Levi’s theory of predatory rule, I submit a theory of “co-predation” to explain international cooperation with respect to taxation of novel, cross-border technologies such as cryptocurrency. Migration transition theories have been contested as they informed immigration policy in the Global North, which—based on assumptions that immigrants from developing countries may be a threat to social stability and economic opportunity—aimed to diminish emigration from the South. Development policies were proposed that could produce a “migration transition” in the South, where it was assumed that improved economic development would act as a substitute for migration and lead to minimal emigration, thus reducing overall immigration to the Global North. This research paper explores certain socio-political conditions that have contributed to the paradox of the Cuban healthcare model, viewed through the lens of Cuban women’s sexual and reproductive health. By examining Cuba’s reproductive healthcare system paradigm, this paper examines the complex relationship between socio-political and economic determinants, and Cuban women’s decision/ability to reproduce and provide for their offspring.

Analysis of Cuba’s strategy and orientation reveals strengths, weaknesses, and contradictions that impact women’s reproductive choices and access to care.
