Products Of Their Environment? Nuclear Proliferation And The Emerging Multipolar International System, Jonathan David Moore
Products Of Their Environment? Nuclear Proliferation And The Emerging Multipolar International System, Jonathan David Moore
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The world is shifting from a unipolar system following the end of the Cold War to a multipolar system that is ushered in by "the rise of the rest." This change in the global structure has led some analysts to predict an increase in nuclear weapons proliferation caused by increased uncertainty and a decrease in alliances and security assurances. Nuclear proliferation, however, will not increase because these types of predictions are founded upon realist assumptions that inaccurately predict the characteristics of the emerging multipolar system as well as inaccurately understanding calculations of states with regard to nuclear weapons programs. Gender Politics: A Case Study Of Feminism In Iran, Sara A. Hoff

The literature on feminism and Islam shows that there is a distinct relationship and conflict between identity groups in Iran. An alliance between Muslim and secular feminists has been observed in the past in Iran; however, a breakdown of the alliance has occurred in recent years. It is my assumption that in order for feminists in Iran to unite, several principles of Iris Young's communicative democracy and coalition building practices have to be applied. Communicative democracy stresses that individuals' ideas often change when interaction with other people and their experiences occurs. Further, communicative democracy emphasizes the importance of recognizing the …
The Middle East In World Affairs Understanding Iran's Changing Transnational And International Role, Marla Renfro
The Middle East In World Affairs Understanding Iran's Changing Transnational And International Role, Marla Renfro
Graduate Program in International Studies Theses & Dissertations
In 1979, the Islamic Republic of Iran emerged on the international stage and began to establish itself as a participant in global terrorism. Throughout the period 1979-96, officials linked numerous terrorist actions and operations to Iran; this link could have involve Iran's direct sponsorship or indirect involvement, such as by providing monetary support to operatives. In order to develop strategies to prevent or minimize the threat of terrorist attack, Iran's role in global terrorism must be assessed.
The purpose of this work is threefold: to demonstrate the role taken by Iran in global terrorism from 1979 to 1996, to explain …
Iranian Foreign Policy Shedding The Pariah Image, Joseph Edward Gleason Jr.
Iranian Foreign Policy Shedding The Pariah Image, Joseph Edward Gleason Jr.
Graduate Program in International Studies Theses & Dissertations
This study analyzes Iranian foreign policy since 1979 to determine if Iran is a pariah state in the international community. To determine Iran's isolation in the international community, various factors were examined, including diplomatic relations, political leverage, relations with the United Nations, and the ability to acquire military hardware. Iran's status was compared with three generally accepted pariah states, Taiwan, Israel, and South Africa to determine the degree of isolation faced by the Islamic Republic. This study determined that Iran remains a pariah state, but is less isolated than most pariah states because its objectionable behavior, its aggressive foreign policy, …
Iran; Nicaragua; Cuba; An Analysis Of Revolutions, Neil Moynihan
Iran; Nicaragua; Cuba; An Analysis Of Revolutions, Neil Moynihan
Honors Theses
Can these revolutions be explained by the withdrawal of the United States? It seems not. Can all three revolutions fit under any one theory of revolution? The answer here will probably also be: no; each theory, however, gives valuable hints about what aspects of each revolution one should analyze.
