The desirability of randomized experiments (see Gilbert, Light, & Mosteller, 1975) and the usual need for quasi-experimental designs (because real programs rarely can be administered randomly) are staples of the evaluation literature. Campbell (1969) and others long have advocated the need for acquisition and analysis of longitudinal data in such evaluations.

Today's graduate students dutifully study trend data from the famous Connecticut crackdown on speeding and the British Breathalyser experiment to learn how graphs can be interpreted to shed light on possible program effects. Psi: An Attractive Alternative For The Basic Speech Communication Course, William J. Seiler

The Personalized System of Instruction (PSI), often referred to as the Keller Plan after its founder Fred Keller, was developed to teach introductory psychology courses. Since it was first used, however, PSI has seen widespread use in many disciplines. Sherman estimates that six thousand PSI courses have been taught at all levels of education by virtually all disciplines. Boylan reports that more than thirteen hundred individuals presently use the PSI method on the university and college level; that 80.5% of the individuals surveyed represent four-year institutions, with the remainder representing two-year institutions; that 66% of the colleges and universities are …

This study was intended to record the stages in the development of the Dike School Libraries as well as to ascertain the significant influences in the the development of library services in a small Iowa community.

The major source of data for this research was the personal interview. Librarians, teachers, administrators and students representing the span of school history from the early 1920 1 s to the present were interviewed. Other primary sources included NCA evaluations, applications for the School Library Media Program Award, and school board minutes.

The investigator researched whether participation in the individualized reading guidance program caused an increase in the number of recreational reading books read by the students in the experimental group during the program and after the completion of the program as compared to the number of recreational reading books read by the students in the control group during the same time period.

The problem of this study was to increase the general publics' awareness of the difficulties Black Americans faced in pursuit of higher education.

The procedure was a twofold process. First, the writer reviewed some of the pre-college variables that affected the Black student. Second, the needs and concerns of the Black student at a predominantly White University were studied by the use of a questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to three groups on the Eastern Illinois University Campus. The purpose of the study was to investigate the degree of stress principals perceive in the work environment. Specifically this study compared the actual perceived stress experienced on the job with what principals deem to be a reasonable amount of stress. The study was predicated on the research findings that indicate that the amount of stress is relative to a given individual as opposed to being an absolute quality.
