Alternatives In Machinery Management On Juab County, Utah, Dry-Farms, W. Jay Dalley

Data were collected from 25 dry farmers living in East-Juab County farming a minimum of 100 acres of land. The data includes the use of tractors, plows, weeders, drills, and combines. A comparison was made between the costs of operation for nine farms between the range of 100 and 500 acres, with an average of 302 acres, producing an average of 83 acres of grain; eleven farms in the range of 501 to 1,000 acres, with an average of 729 acres;--producing an average of 243 acres of grain; and five farms in the range of 1,001 to the largest of …

Reliable price data for fat cattle in Utah are becoming difficult to obtain because fewer and fewer slaughter cattle go through market channels where live cattle prices are reported.

The objectives of this study were to determine how correlated Utah fat cattle prices are with the California dressed meat market for cattle and formulate an equation or equations enabling reliable price predictions to be made for the Utah slaughter cattle market.

The product sugar is studied in detail with special emphasis on supply and demand factors, in an attempt to better understand the abnormal sugar market of 1963-1964.

The unusual market fluctuations of that period appear to have been initiated by a statistical imbalance in world supply and demand of sugar.

The extent of price fluctuations in the United States during 1963-1964 were accentuated by the inability of current sugar legislation to shield the U. A Forecast Of Iranian Demand For Agricultural Food Products, Ivan F. Beutler

Domestic demand for Iranian agricultural food commodities was projected for 1970, 1975 and 1980. Demand for particular commodities was projected separately for Tehran (the capital city), urban Iran and rural Iran.

Income and population growth were the most significant explanatory variables in this long term projection.

Two cross-sectional family budget surveys, taken six years apart, provided consumption data for Tehran and urban Iran. A series of family budget studies provided Engel curve data for rural Iran.

The income effect was estimated for each food item by least squares regression analysis. The resulting income elasticities were found to be significantly different …

This thesis is designed to establish bench marks which will facilitate the measurement of impacts of new crop and livestock extension practices on the rate of community development of the village of Achica Bajo, Bolivia. Successful agricultural extension and community development programs require adequate data at the farm and community level. In the absence of a real appreciation for the levels of income and financial needs of the campesinos, it is difficult to institute farm policies such as land tax measures which will have the desired impacts and consequences as well as peasant acceptance.

The attitudes of selected university professors and students in Utah toward labor unions were obtained through the medium of a questionnaire.

Most students and professors favored anti-trust laws for unions, were against the abolishment of the right-to-work law, and were evenly divided in their feelings concerning the settlement of strikes by compulsory arbitration.

A majority of students and professors were against an increase in overtime pay and a shorter work week. Students favored and professors opposed a raise in the minimum wage.

Professors and students anticipated growth in union membership as a percentage of the labor force.

This article examines the implications for effective protection(EP) theory of allowing variable factor proportions and general equilibrium repercussions. The first claim of EP theory, is that it provides a measure of the maximum proportionate increase in factor rewards permitted by a tariff structure, as compared to a free trade regime. EP rates predict only a particular direction of resource flows whereas general equilibrium analysis, with variable input coefficients, indicates that flows contrary to EP prediction are possible. The flexible accelerator concept has provided the rationale for the regression equations used in several recent econometric studies of inventory behavior. In such a model a desired (or equilibrium) level of inventories is defined, but because of costs involved in changing the level of stocks only a partial adjustment of inventories to their desired level is achieved in any time period. This leads to the familiar decision rule in which current inventory is a linear function of the previous period's stock plus a variable or set of variables representing current demand.
