Incorporating Ai Literacy Into Music Library Instruction: An Interactive Discussion, Taylor J. Greene
Library Presentations, Posters, and Audiovisual Materials
Taylor Greene gave a presentation connecting AI Literacy to his work not only as the liaison to the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music but also more broadly in his role as Chair of Research and Instructional Services. He began by providing an overview of Chapman University’s cautious approach to embracing generative AI and highlighted the library’s role in supporting faculty, staff, librarians, and students in better understanding these technologies and their potential impact on higher education. He summarized the work of the AI Task Force and offered a general overview of the AI Literacy lectures that he and Dr. Doug Dechow …

" A Beautiful Maiden Shot My Heart" By Antar Bin Shadad:, Yasser K. R. Aman
" A Beautiful Maiden Shot My Heart" By Antar Bin Shadad:, Yasser K. R. Aman
Comparative Woman
This is a translation of an Arabic poem from Pre-Islamic poetry written by Antara Bin Shadad. This poem is an example of appropriation in literary translation. When the meaning is not only cultural but when it is ambience- bound as well, appropriation is difficult but not impossible to achieve. " رمتِ الفؤادَ مليحة عذراءُ" " A Beautiful Maiden Shot My Heart" is an example of a hard choice whether to translate a poem into classical or modern poetry. However, the best I have done was to appropriate between both choices. Images are almost kept the same, but the classical style, …

Comparative Woman
Contextually, I am from a line of strong black women. I am from a community of strivers and survivors who’ve accomplished great things through the blanket of patriarchy and civil injustices. I stand on the shoulders of many who took literal and figurative hits so that I could have opportunities they only dreamed of. I have followed in this legacy shattering glass ceilings into unrecognizable pieces for those who will come next.
However, breaking through has not come without cuts, bruises, scrapes and wounds. The celebration of smashing stereotypes should at least be balanced with the acknowledgement of the formidable …

Texts, Affects And Teenagers: (Im)Material Transmissions Across France And Ireland, Taylor Still
Journal of Franco-Irish Studies
This article examines the circulation of texts between people, spaces and cultural perspectives, addressing disparate mediums from virtual transmission, including social media channels; to physical or material transmission in public space(s). Central to the internationalised transmission of texts, the recent emergence and popularity of channels such as TikTok and Instagram have allowed for more innovative, creative and collaborative literary practices. Focusing on young publics in particular, we interrogate how “viral” transmissive practices can work to re-produce, re-appropriate, and re-interpret literary texts. This article also focuses on the affective experience of these transmissive textual practices, and how the (non-)human interactions can …
Un Silence Assourdissant! Listening To What’S Not Being Said, Addressing The Silence Around And Impact Of Intersectionality For Leaving Certificate Applied Students In Irish Second Level Education., Vicki O'Reilly
Journal of Franco-Irish Studies
Intersectionality as a concept for diversity and discrimination helps us to put shape on the many layers and descriptors that label and often define us as individuals. The narrative we hear about how we discuss and describe each layer can shape how society places value on each layer or descriptor. Where we hear nothing, where there is gap in our narrative, we can find discourse lacking as a means to shape and overcome intersectionality. In looking at two specific descriptors, socio-economic status and educational attainment, we investigate how their intersection can impact individuals and the ensuant discourse that surrounds them. …

Racing Latinidad, Renee Hudson
Racing Latinidad, Renee Hudson
English Faculty Books and Book Chapters
This chapter argues that the terms “Latinx” and “latinidad” are messy signifiers that allow us to contend with Latinx’s complicated racial history. While the term Latinx continues to be controversial, and scholars such as Tatiana Flores have examined the case for cancelling latinidad, “Racing Latinidad” points to how latinidad can signify particular political commitments and affinities. Through readings of Manuel Muñoz’s What You See in the Dark (2011) and Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa’s Daughters of the Stone (2009), this chapter illuminates how excavating racial histories outside the logic of the state is a way to summon a politics to imagine a people. …

[in-text citation removed] Destination managers across the world are projecting legends in their promotion attempts as they are confident that these legends have the power to attract tourists. As such, this present piece of research underlines the role of myths, legends and folk tales in …

The southern Levantine coast was settled continuously for three millennia, from the Neolithic period until its abandonment in Early Bronze Age II, in sharp contrast to inland sites that developed into urbanized cities. This study examines this phenomenon by investigating the pottery production component of the economic systems of two contemporary EB I villages: a shoreline coastal site that was abandoned (Dor South) and an inland site that evolved into an urban center (‘En Esur). This pilot ceramic petrography examination shows two distinct strategies, with ‘En Esur producing pottery primarily from local raw materials and Dor South relying mainly on …

The Village People: Social Aspects Of Rural Settlements—Comments On Method And Theory, Eyal Regev

The village is usually viewed as a basic geographic and economic unit, characterized by unsophisticated social organization, limited interpersonal ties and weak external social networks. However, studies in rural archaeology and anthropology revealed that village life was more complex. This article offers a survey of several key theoretical issues relevant for interpreting archaeological remains of villages, farmsteads and estates/villas from a social perspective. It focuses mainly on the organization of the settlement as a holistic unit and the specific houses/households within it. The article seeks to explore the complex correlation between the spatial and social aspects of rural housing—the way …
