Review Of Treatment Of Error In Second Language Student Writing By Dana R. Ferris, Melanie C. González Aug 2012

Review Of Treatment Of Error In Second Language Student Writing By Dana R. Ferris, Melanie C. González

Melanie González

Many people are familiar with the saying “anything worth doing is worth doing well.” Writing and composition teachers could argue the same could be said of handling errors in students’ writing. In the second edition of Treatment of Error in Second Language Student Writing (2011), Dana R. Ferris provides a valuable handbook for teachers of second language (L2) writers on how to effectively treat errors in L2 student compositions and develop their accuracy and independence as writers. Throughout the book, Ferris delivers a clear and evidence-based argument that providing corrective feedback united with instruction and self-editing strategies improves student writing. …

Temperature Distribution In An Oscillatory Flow With A Sinusoidal Wall Temperature, Eduardo Ramos, Brian Storey, Fernando Sierra, Raul Zuniga, Andriy Avramenko Jul 2012

Temperature Distribution In An Oscillatory Flow With A Sinusoidal Wall Temperature, Eduardo Ramos, Brian Storey, Fernando Sierra, Raul Zuniga, Andriy Avramenko

Brian Storey

The temperature field generated by an oscillatory boundary layer flow in the presence of a wall with a sinusoidal temperature distribution is analyzed. A linear perturbation method is used to find closed form analytical solutions for the temperature field when the amplitude of the velocity oscillation is small. The analytical solutions only consider long-time behavior when the temperature fields oscillate with the frequency of the flow. The structure of the equation that governs the temperature correction due to convection is similar to that of diffusive waves with the solution consisting of traveling or standing waves. The temperature distribution is also …

Hydrogen Production From Biogas By Oxy-Reforming: Reaction System Analysis, Aleksandra Terlecka, Wojciech M. Budzianowski Dec 2011

Hydrogen Production From Biogas By Oxy-Reforming: Reaction System Analysis, Aleksandra Terlecka, Wojciech M. Budzianowski

Wojciech Budzianowski

Oxy-reforming is emerging as an interesting alternative to conventional methods of hydrogen generation. The current article characterises this process through analysis of individual reactions: SMR (steam methane reforming), WGS (water gas shift) and CPO (catalytic partial oxidation). Analyses relate to optimisation of thermal conditions thus enabling cost-effectivenes of the process.
