Objective The exploitation of shallow coal seams under water bodies faces a contradiction between water resource preservation and overburden disturbance. In this case, achieving safe mining while preventing water-conducting fracture zones from affecting key aquifers and exploring techniques that place equal emphasis on water preservation and efficient resource recovery have emerged as popular research topics. Methods An integrated aquifer-overburden-coal seam model was constructed using 3D geological visualization technology. Objective To determine the deformation and failure mechanisms of fractured rock masses with rock bridges in alpine regions, this study conducted mechanical property tests on rock samples with varying lengths of rock bridges subjected to cyclic freezing and thawing. Methods Through experiments, this study summarized the characteristics of the static strength deterioration of rock masses under the combined effects of different numbers of freezing and thawing cycles and varying rock bridge lengths. Background Geologic CO2 sequestration in basalts has attracted wide attention in recent years owing to its safe, stable, and efficient CO2 trapping mechanisms.Methods Focusing on basalts in the Longtan Formation within western Guizhou Province, China, this study simulated the CO2-water-basalt geochemical reactions under varying temperatures, pressures, and times. Objective and Method The diffusivity of methane (CH4) in coal seams significantly influences the surface extraction of coalbed methane (CBM) and underground gas drainage. However, the visualized characterization of the diffusion and migration processes of CH4 in coals remains challenging. Objective and Method Alkali and alkaline earth metals (AAEMs) in coals adversely affect coal processing and utilization. Among the AAEMs, water-soluble and mineral-hosted metals can be largely removed through water washing, flotation, and heavy liquid separation, while organically-bound AAEMs are difficult to eliminate. Objective Under intense mining in deep parts of coal mines, the roadway support systems are significantly affected by both far- and near-field dynamic loads, accompanied by the strong deformations of the surrounding rocks. Therefore, investigating the failure mechanisms of anchorage bodies under dynamic loading becomes particularly important. Methods Using the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test system and digital image correlation (DIC) technology, the study investigated the mechanical response characteristics of the anchorage bodies under different impact air pressures. This study investigated the efficiency of thermal carbon chitosan (TCCS) sorbent for CO2 capture from vehicle exhaust emissions within a designed adsorption system. TCCS was synthesized and meticulously characterized using a series of analytical techniques, including Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Ther- mogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), and Differential Scanning Calo- rimetry (DSC). The TCCS adsorbent showed high thermal stability and a heating value (HHV) of 23.5 MJ/kg. Adsorption isotherm study demonstrated that the maximum capacity of CO2 adsorption is 0.084 kg.CO2/kg. The global fashion industry generates over 92 million tons of textile waste annually, a figure projected to increase significantly by 2030. Bio-engineered fibers, including bacterial cellulose, mycelium-based leather, and recombinant protein textiles emerge as sustainable alternatives to conventional fibers. Despite their promise, recent evidence suggests that these fibers may pose environmental risks at the end-of-life stage, such as incomplete biodegradation in landfills, microfiber shedding, and chemical leaching from dyes and coatings. Dependence on landfills is approaching critical thresholds as disposal sites near saturation, transportation costs escalate, and host communities increasingly resist garbage transfers. This dissertation examines the transition from conventional linear agricultural and food bioenergy systems toward more circular, resilient, and resource-efficient configurations. Prior research indicates that spatial and temporal variability in soil, weather, animal biological responses, and management decisions strongly influences productivity, nutrient-use efficiency, and profitability. Indian River Lagoon Shorelines

The spatial dataset: UCF_Outfalls_IRL_LWL.shp was created under grants from the Indian River Lagoon National Estuaries Program and Florida Sea Grant. These projects cumulatively led to creation of a living shoreline restoration prioritization model and hydrodynamic habitat suitability models for 1,550 km (963 miles) of estuarine shorelines in Indian River Lagoon (IRL) and Lake Worth Lagoon (LWL).

The dataset presented here includes the location of outfalls identified throughout the study region and general characteristics of the shoreline where they were identified.

In recent years, 3D printing has grown rapidly, both in homes and commercially. This has led to increased demand for plastic filaments, many of which contribute to plastic waste. This project explores the potential of recycling household plastics into 3D printing filament, promoting sustainability and creating a circular economy. Materials like PLA, PETG, ABS, and polypropylene can be recycled or even composted. Indian River Lagoon Shorelines

The spatial dataset: UCF_shorelinemodel_IRL_LWL.shp, was created with support from the Indian River Lagoon National Estuaries Program and Florida Sea Grant. These projects cumulatively led to creation of a living shoreline restoration prioritization model and hydrodynamic habitat suitability models for 1,550 km (963 miles) of estuarine shorelines in Indian River Lagoon and Lake Worth Lagoon.

The dataset presented herein includes:

  1. shoreline data from >15,000 transects collected in the field,
  2. shoreline wave climate data created through hydrodynamic modeling and frequency analysis of historic data,

Background The gully-crossing mining of shallow coal seams within thin bedrock zones is prone to connecting hydraulically conductive fracture zones in the overburden with surface water bodies, significantly increasing the risk of water disasters, such as water inrushes and surface-water bursting in mines.
