With the in-depth exploration and development of coalbed methane (CBM), the development differences between different strata in the same region are gradually emerging. Deepening the understanding of reservoir is crucial to formulate development strategies. Taking the Zhengzhuang Block in the southern Qinshui Basin as an example, in the past, the focus was on the main No.3 coal resources. In the 2D seismic area, the reservoir with a low well control degree, frontal sedimentary of the meandering river's delta and other complex lithology reservoirs, the drilling ratio of reservoirs is low when horizontal wells are implemented. The application of the geosteering technology combining the iterative updating of 3D geologic models and geologic-engineering integration has been gradually extensive. Guizhou Province is a typical area where thin-to-medium thick coalbeds are developed, where the resource endowment characteristics, including multiple coalbeds, small thickness, low permeability, high in-situ stress and multi-layer superposition of pressure system, lead to the difficulties in localization of the mainstream technologies at home and abroad for the development of coalbed methane (CBM) and the utilization of CBM resources. In northern Minnesota, the Line 3 tar sands pipeline crosses Indigenous treaty territory, the Mississippi River, and wild rice lakes. Despite the severity of climate crisis and widespread public opposition, Canadian pipeline company Enbridge succeeded in securing permits for, constructing, and ultimately running oil in the pipeline in fall 2021. How was this possible and how did the climate justice movement try to resist? Drawing on participant observation and interviews in the Stop Line 3 movement, this article employs LeQuesne's (2019) concepts of petro-hegemony and carbon rebellion to explain why Line 3 was approved and to assess water protectors' resistance. …

The structural plane extensively occurs in coal measures, and is one of the key factors affecting the hydraulic fracturing effect of coal/rock. The fabrication time and filling material types of the structural plane were adjusted to obtain the coal/rock specimens without the filling structural plane, or the coal/rock specimens with the filling structural plane. Due to low permeability, fast gas-rate decline, uneven fracturing, easy fracture closure, it is difficult to perform advance gas extraction in broken-soft coal seams. Aimed at these issues, this study has been proposed a new idea to enhance the coalbed permeability and eventually the gas extraction, which is based on roof-supporting, long-reach directional drilling, and hydraulic fracturing. Simulation experiments on hydraulic fracturing of the coal seam in the laboratory are an effective method to study the mechanism of fracturing and enhancing permeability of coal-rock mass by hydraulic fracturing in coal mines.
