Types Of Oil Recovery Methods To Increase Oil Productions, Astrid Rodriguez
Types Of Oil Recovery Methods To Increase Oil Productions, Astrid Rodriguez
International Programs
In the oil industry, different recovery methods are applied to produce a percentage of the hydrocarbon storage in a reservoir. These methods are classified into three principal categories: primary, secondary, and tertiary recovery. Their selection and implementation depend on the reservoir and fluids properties. According to the recovery method selected, it is possible to recover different quantities of hydrocarbon.

Investigation Of Ongoing Unconventional Gas Extraction And Underground Gas Storage In Pennsylvania: Regulations And Water Quality, Cassandra Ziegler
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The extraction of unconventional shale gas and its underground gas storage have the potential to impact surface and groundwater water quality. In New Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, 54 unconventional gas wells were drilled between 2013 and 2019. Groundwater samples from 33 water wells and surface water from Brush Creek (18 samples) were collected and analyzed for anions, cations, and light hydrocarbons. Results showed that at least 8 wells had indicators of brine contamination, and the surface waters of mine drainage. The Steckman Ridge natural gas storage field in Clearville, Bedford County, PA has 13 active storage wells. Samples were …
Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles To Quantify Erosion Control Measures On A Reclaimed Central Utah Coal Mine, Christopher R. Brown
Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles To Quantify Erosion Control Measures On A Reclaimed Central Utah Coal Mine, Christopher R. Brown
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
For certain landscape reclamation efforts surrounding, the Utah Division of Oil Gas and Mining (UDOGM) utilizes a surface roughing technique called “pocking”. The process of pocking establishes closely spaced gouges approximately 1.2 meters in diameter and 0.5 meters deep across a reclaimed landscape in order to reduce surface erosion and promote plant growth on steep terrain in arid regions. Pocks are designed as a series of micro watersheds that trap water to aid in plant establishment and reduces overland flow of water. Over time vegetation grows within the pocks as they infill with sediment. While this method is considered an …

Small Commercial And Industrial Electricity Consumption In Las Cruces, New Mexico, Andrew Taylor Yurachek
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
Research examining small commercial and industrial electricity usage patterns have historically received less attention than residential electricity consumption patterns. This study examines electricity as an input to commercial and industrial production in Las Cruces, New Mexico using annual frequency data from 1978 to 2018. Those data examined include labor, per capita personal income, price measures for electricity and natural gas, and weather variables. The long-run and short-run elasticities of the data are then estimated using an autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL). In the long run, CIS customers in Las Cruces respond to natural gas a complimentary good, and the derived-demand …

Application Of Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry To Monitor Surface Deformations Of The Trans-European Transport Network (Ten-T) – A Case Study Of The Motorways Crossing Areas Of Mining Operations In The Upper Silesian Coal Basin, Poland, Adam Smoliński, Mariusz Stawinoga, Tomasz Pindel
Journal of Sustainable Mining
Underground hard coal mining causes surface deformations. When the mining operations are conducted beneath linear objects, such as motorways, there is a risk of deformations of the axis of the road and its horizontal and vertical alignment (additional bends and vertical curvatures, longitudinal inclinations, deformations of crosssections). In the areas subjected to mining operations, mining plants conduct geodetic monitoring. Due to their labour intensity and costs, geodetic measurements are usually made only a few times a year. The article discusses the possibility of applying Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) to monitor the subsidence of the vertical alignment of motorways caused …

Bioethanol Production: Glucose Testing And Quantification Using Dns Analysis And Addition Analytical Methods, Dineen Vogler, Barnabas Gikonyo
McNair Scholars Program
The search for alternative ways to create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly source of energy, other than fossil fuels, has been ongoing for many years. Particularly, the production of biofuels has become of interest. One effort has been through the creation of first-generation biofuels that curb greenhouse gas emissions, unlike fossil fuels. However, first generation biofuels lead to the increase in food prices which negatively impacts developing countries, as they use food sources to produce biofuel. To mitigate this issue, second generation biofuels are considered as a better alternative. Instead of hindering the food supply, second generation biofuels aim …

The faults have great influence on coal and gas outburst disasters, and accurate detection of faults location is very important to prevent such disasters. At present, large number of gas drainage boreholes were drilled in coal mines, but the geological information contained in these boreholes is not fully paid attention to, thus the method to detect concealed faults by gas-drainage boreholes was proposed. In this paper, by establishing a mathematical model for fault detection based on gas drainage drilling, a three-dimensional coordinate of fault planes and coal seam floors is calculated, and basic parameters such as fault location, drop, attitude …

Green Detection Method Of Coal Burning Area In Northern Shaanxi Based On Microbial Hydrocarbon Detection Technology, Duan Zhonghui, Ma Li, Hao Chun, Wang Lengyao, Mei Hai
Coal Geology & Exploration
Coal seams contain all kinds of light hydrocarbons. When coal seams are burned, the integrity of overlying strata is destroyed, which provides a good channel for hydrocarbon escape from the coal seam. This process conforms to the principle of light hydrocarbon microseepage. Then, microseepage associated microbial hydrocarbon detection technology is introduced to test its recognition ability of coal seam burning area. In Haojialiang Coal Mine of Jurassic Coalfield in northern Shaanxi, two survey lines were tested and butane bacteria was selected as microbial detection index. After microbial analysis process such as soil sampling, microbial culture, and colony count, combined with …

Coal Geology & Exploration
Well cementing is an important stage during the process of energy extraction. When deep-water oil and gas cementing encounters hydrate formations, the hydration heat of cementing slurry will cause hydrate decomposition in the reservoir near the borehole wall and reverse penetration of high-pressure gas-water. To reduce and avoid the adverse effects of hydrate decomposition, it is critical to clarify the physical response of hydrate reservoirs and the law of high-pressure gas-water reverse penetration under different cementing conditions. In this paper, a two-dimensional cementing numerical model is established according to the SH2 exploration well of GMGS-1 project in Shenhu area in …
