The Introduction And Aquaculture Of Non-Endemic Species In Western Australia: The ‘Rotund’ Yabby Cherax Rotundus And The All-Male Hybrid Yabby. A Discussion Paper., Department Of Fisheries
Fisheries management papers
This discussion paper has been prepared to provide information to assist in the assessment of the possible impact of the translocation of Cherax rotundus and allmale hybrid yabbies within Western Australia, for the purposes of commercial aquaculture on private properties. In assessing the translocation of any aquatic species, the economic and social benefits must be balanced with biological and environmental risks.

Discussion Paper : The Translocation Of Brown Trout (Salmo Trutta) And Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus Mykiss) Into And Within Western Australia., Western Australian Fisheries
Fisheries management papers
This discussion paper has been prepared to assist in the assessment of the possible impact of the translocation of brown trout (Salmo trutta) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), into and within Western Australia, for the purposes of recreational stock enhancement in public waters, non-commercial aquaculture on private properties and commercial aquaculture. In assessing the translocation of any aquatic species, economic and social benefits must be balanced with biological and environmental risks.

Five-Hundred Life-Saving Interventions And Their Misuse In The Debate Over Regulatory Reform, Lisa Heinzerling
Five-Hundred Life-Saving Interventions And Their Misuse In The Debate Over Regulatory Reform, Lisa Heinzerling
RISK: Health, Safety & Environment (1990-2002)
The author argues that John D. Graham, administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, holds strong anti-environmental biases and has perpetuated and encouraged a misrepresentation of his own research, which has largely influenced health, safety, and environmental regulation.

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
This study was conducted as part of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) project to conduct ecoregional conservation planning throughout the continental United States. TNC contracted with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) to conduct a rapid ecological assessment (REA) of the portion of the Northern Mixedgrass Prairie ecoregion (NMGP) occurring in Nebraska. This report concludes that agreement. Roughly the northern 1/5 of central Nebraska occurs within the NMGP (Figure 1). This ecoregion also includes extensive area of central South Dakota and central North Dakota. The objective of this study was to conduct a REA of the untilled landscapes within the …
Snowmobiling In Maine: Past Successes, Future Challenges, David Vail
Snowmobiling In Maine: Past Successes, Future Challenges, David Vail
Maine Policy Review
With one snowmobile registration for every 15 residents, Maine may well have the most snowmobiles per capita of any U.S. state. Moreover, the state’s 12,000-mile network of groomed trails and its 2,500-mile Interconnected Trail System make it a major winter tourist attraction. Still, as David Vail points out—and as the number of snowmobile-related deaths confirms—such progress has not come without costs and conflict. Although Vail argues the benefits outweigh the costs, he suggests Maine should act now to alleviate the conflicts related to congestion, over use of the state’s major trails, noise and air pollution, and free riding by non-dues-paying …
Stated Preference Methods For Environmental Management : Recreational Summer Flounder Angling In The Northeastern United States, Robert L. Hicks
Stated Preference Methods For Environmental Management : Recreational Summer Flounder Angling In The Northeastern United States, Robert L. Hicks
Reports
Environmental managers are becoming increasingly aware that environmental policies must be crafted in a way that incorporates the human dimensions of the ecosystem. Failure to incorporate stakeholder preferences into management measures can lead to policies that fail because people’s preferences, motivations, and behavior concerning their use of the environment were not properly considered even if defensible natural science approaches were incorporated in the management decision. In this paper, we present a new method for quantifying angler preferences for fisheries management. The method, called the Stated Preference Discrete Choice Technique (SPDC) (Louviere et. al) is a particular form of conjoint analysis, …
