Signals In The Soil: An Introduction To Wireless Underground Communications, Abdul Salam, Usman Raza
Signals In The Soil: An Introduction To Wireless Underground Communications, Abdul Salam, Usman Raza
Computer Information Technology Faculty Publications
In this chapter, wireless underground (UG) communications are introduced. A detailed overview of WUC is given. A comprehensive review of research challenges in WUC is presented. The evolution of underground wireless is also discussed. Moreover, different component of UG communications is wireless. The WUC system architecture is explained with a detailed discussion of the anatomy of an underground mote. The examples of UG wireless communication systems are explored. Furthermore, the differences of UG wireless and over-the-air wireless are debated. Different types of wireless underground channel (e.g., In-Soil, Soil-to-Air, and Air-to-Soil) are reported as well.

Geoscience Faculty Research
We re-evaluated speleothem isotope series from Aotearoa New Zealand that were recently contributed to the Speleothem Isotopes Synthesis and AnaLysis (SISAL) database. COnstructing Proxy Records from Age Models (COPRA) software was used to produce Bayesian age models for those speleothems. The new age modelling helped us examine Late Quaternary temporal coverage for the national speleothem network, and also supported our exploration of three different isotope master record generation techniques using Holocene δ18O data from Waitomo. We then applied the output from one of the isotope master record techniques to test an application case of how climate transfer functions can be …

Flow Topology In The Confluence Of An Open Channel With Lateral Drainage Pipe, Mohammad Nazari-Sharabian, Moses Karakouzian, Donald Hayes
Flow Topology In The Confluence Of An Open Channel With Lateral Drainage Pipe, Mohammad Nazari-Sharabian, Moses Karakouzian, Donald Hayes
Geoscience Faculty Research
The purpose of this paper is to develop design guidelines for flood control channel height in the vicinity of the confluence of a submerged drainage pipe and a flood control channel. The water exchange in the confluence of an open channel with a lateral drainage pipe produces unique hydraulic characteristics, ultimately affecting the water surface elevation in the channel. An accurate prediction of the water surface elevation is essential in the successful design of a high-velocity channel. By performing several experiments, and utilizing a numerical model (FLOW-3D), this study investigated the impact of submerged lateral drainage pipe discharges into rectangular …
Experimental Constraints On Igneous Iron Isotopic Fractionation And Diffusion, Kelsey Brianne Prissel
Experimental Constraints On Igneous Iron Isotopic Fractionation And Diffusion, Kelsey Brianne Prissel
Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations
The chapters of this dissertation detail experimental studies that have been conducted in order to determine the diffusivity of iron in the mineral ilmenite (FeTiO3) and the high-temperature behavior of iron isotopes during magma crystallization. The experimental study in Chapter 2 is the first to quantify the rates of cation diffusion in ilmenite. Integrating experimentally determined Fe-Mg and Fe-Mn interdiffusivities with disequilibrium preserved in ilmenite grains from natural volcanic samples, this work has established a new geospeedometry tool with which to estimate the time between magmatic perturbation and eruption on the timescale of hours to months. Chapter 3 investigates the …

Machine learning was combined with RUSLE2 erosion prediction technology to quickly estimate soil erosion by water over large areas. The new modeling framework combines efficient geoprocessing and machine learning techniques to allow the application of the RUSLE2 model to entire watersheds while maintaining high spatial resolution that consider actual overland flow paths, drainage networks, soil properties, and land use. The methodology uses topographic information from LiDAR digital elevation models, soil maps from SSURGO, spatial crop data from USDA NASS, and RUSLE2 databases describing climate and agricultural operations. New geoprocessing algorithms define hillslopes and extract topographic, soil, and crop properties. A …

Pengaruh Kombinasi Jamur Trichoderma Harzianum Dan Bokashi Terhadap Pertumbuhan Tiga Kultivar Kedelai, Rosiman, Sumadi, Meddy Rachmadi
Jurnal Kultivasi
