Three-Dimensional Crust And Mantle Structure Of Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii, Willam L. Ellsworth, Robert Y. Koyanagi

United States Geological Survey: Staff Publications

Teleseismic P wave arrival times recorded by a dense network of seismograph stations located on Kilauea volcano, Hawaii, are inverted to determine lateral variations in crust and upper mantle structure to a depth of 70 km. The crustal structure is dominated by relatively high velocities within the central summit complex and along the two radial rift zones, compared with the nonrift flank of the volcano. Both the mean crustal velocity contrast between summit and nonrift flank and the distribution of velocities agree well with results from crustal refraction studies. Water resources data for the 1976 water year for Nebraska consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; stage and contents of lakes and reservoirs; and water levels and water quality in wells and springs. This report contains discharge records for 146 gaging stations; stage and contents for 9 lakes and reservoirs; water quality for 40 gaging stations, 18 ungaged stations, 27 partial-record flow stations, and 96 wells; and water levels for 66 observation wells. Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins

The introduction of irrigated agriculture and the attendant increase in intensity of land use for agricultural purposes in the Sandhills region of Nebraska requires additional data regarding soils in the area. This work investigated landscape relationships and some of the morphological, physical, chemical, and mineralogical properties of the soil in one irrigated valley. The soils in this valley contain greater amounts of silt and clay than do the soils on the nearby dunes. In addition, some of the valley soils contain layers of much higher clay content and corresponding cation exchange and water holding capacity than the dunal soils and …

This publication contains (1) Nebraska laws pertaining to groundwater, and (2) the duties assigned to or the rules and regulations developed by various Nebraska agencies charged with the regulation of groundwater use. Following public hearings, rules and regulations can be changed at any time by state agencies. Each state agency with responsibility for groundwater regulation is able to supply, upon request, its rules and regulations pertaining to groundwater use. Water legislation varies from state to state because of differences in climate, availability and utilization of water, and fundamental legal concepts inherited at the time of statehood. A Revision Of The Genus Strategus (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), Brett C. Ratcliffe

Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)

The New World genus Strategus Kirby is here defined and revised for the first time. Eight species are described as new: S. atlanticus, S. caymani, S. craigi, S. hipposiderus, S. howdeni, S. longichomperus, S. symphenax, and S. tarquinius; 12 new junior synonyms are established (including the rejection of six previously valid species)'; one species is raised from synonymy; and two new replacement names are proposed. Strategus now contains one fossil species and 31 valid extant species. A key to the males and females of all the species is provided for the first …
