Privacy And Security Of The Windows Registry, Edward L. Amoruso
Privacy And Security Of The Windows Registry, Edward L. Amoruso
Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024
The Windows registry serves as a valuable resource for both digital forensics experts and security researchers. This information is invaluable for reconstructing a user's activity timeline, aiding forensic investigations, and revealing other sensitive information. Furthermore, this data abundance in the Windows registry can be effortlessly tapped into and compiled to form a comprehensive digital profile of the user. Within this dissertation, we've developed specialized applications to streamline the retrieval and presentation of user activities, culminating in the creation of their digital profile. The first application, named "SeeShells," using the Windows registry shellbags, offers investigators an accessible tool for scrutinizing and …
Browser Fingerprinting And The Importance Of Digital Privacy, Aaron M. Corpstein
Browser Fingerprinting And The Importance Of Digital Privacy, Aaron M. Corpstein
Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal
Browser fingerprinting is a type of internet tracking where the attributes of a user’s computer and browser accessing a web page are remotely recorded and then used for profiling, tracking, and advertising purposes. This paper focuses on defining browser fingerprinting and enumerating ways in which the user can combat fingerprinting. Browser fingerprinting can be thwarted by changing attributes within the user’s browser or machine, using a browser designed to combat fingerprinting, or with security and anti-fingerprinting focused browser extensions. All of these methods are capable of increasing the security of the user.
Coronavirus: Pandemics, Artificial Intelligence And Personal Data: How To Manage Pandemics Using Ai And What That Means For Personal Data Protection, Warren B. Chik
Research Collection Yong Pung How School Of Law
This chapter discusses the hearing of essential and urgent court matters in the Singapore courts during the COVID-19 pandemic. On 27 march 2020, the Singapore judiciary notified courst users that remote hearings were to be implemented for certain types of hearings by means of video and telephone conferencing facilities. Regulating Personal Data Usage In Covid-19 Control Conditions, Mark Findlay, Nydia Remolina
Regulating Personal Data Usage In Covid-19 Control Conditions, Mark Findlay, Nydia Remolina
Centre for AI & Data Governance (2019-2025)
As the COVID-19 health pandemic ebbs and flows world-wide, governments and private companies across the globe are utilising AI-assisted surveillance, reporting, mapping and tracing technologies with the intention of slowing the spread of the virus. These technologies have capacity to amass and share personal data for community control and citizen safety motivations that empower state agencies and inveigle citizen co-operation which could only be imagined outside times of real and present personal danger. While not cavilling with the short-term necessity for these technologies and the data they control, process and share in the health regulation mission (provided that the technology …
Self Organized Multi Agent Swarms (Somas) For Network Security Control, Eric M. Holloway
Self Organized Multi Agent Swarms (Somas) For Network Security Control, Eric M. Holloway
Theses and Dissertations
Computer network security is a very serious concern in many commercial, industrial, and military environments. This paper proposes a new computer network security approach defined by self-organized agent swarms (SOMAS) which provides a novel computer network security management framework based upon desired overall system behaviors. The SOMAS structure evolves based upon the partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP) formal model and the more complex Interactive-POMDP and Decentralized-POMDP models, which are augmented with a new F(*-POMDP) model. Example swarm specific and network based behaviors are formalized and simulated. This paper illustrates through various statistical testing techniques, the significance of this proposed …

Personal Data Protection Act 2012: Understanding The Consent Obligation, Man Yip
Personal Data Protection Act 2012: Understanding The Consent Obligation, Man Yip
Research Collection Yong Pung How School Of Law
The Personal Data Protection Act 20121 (“PDPA”) provides the baseline standards of protection of personal data and works in tandem with existing law to provide comprehensive protection. The birth of the legislation clearly signals Singapore’s commitment to protect the collection, use and disclosure of personal data in the age of big data and its awareness of the importance of such protection in strengthening Singapore’s position as a leading commercial hub. Significantly, the PDPA protection model balances “both the rights of individuals to protect their personal data” against “the needs of organisations to collect, use or disclose personal data for legitimate …

Developing Focused Auditing Tools: A Practical Framework For Creating Formalized Multi-Level Security Policy Specifications, Barbara Ann Brough
Theses Digitization Project
The purpose of this study is that formalized policy specifications and focused penetration testing are needed to effectively audit any information system. Designing and maintaining the security system information is the primary duty of the cyber security professional. In today's world, nearly all government agencies manage some form of financial, defense, national security, and/or privacy information security policies. It is also necessary in this environment that agencies are accountable for auditing the security systems that protect this information.

Linear Analysis Of Binary Data As An Aid To Anomaly Detection, Marc Leonard Santoro
Theses Digitization Project
This research focused on spreading packed load in increase throughput, rather than the analysis of the packets themselves. Using singular value decomposition to examine the binary structure of the individual packets, it is possible to perform frequency analysis to identify and classify data, thereby potentially allowing for a new type of paradigm for malicious packet/data identification.
