New York City's crime dynamics have been on the rise for decades. Brooklyn and The Bronx have been disproportionately affected. This research aims to understand the crime landscape in these boroughs to formulate effective policies. Using crime data from official sources, statistical analyses, and data visualizations, the study identifies patterns and trends. The data encompasses over 400,000 reported incidents collected over the past 10 years, meticulously categorized by borough, crime type, and demographic information. Brooklyn has the highest overall crime rate, followed by The Bronx. Most shooting victims are Black. This highlights the need for holistic community programs to address …

Bug localization is the task of identifying parts of thesource code that needs to be changed to resolve a bug report.As this task is difficult, automatic bug localization tools havebeen proposed. The development and evaluation of these toolsrely on the availability of high-quality bug report datasets. In2014, Kochhar et al. identified three biases in datasets used toevaluate bug localization techniques: (1) misclassified bug report,(2) already localized bug report, and (3) incorrect ground truthfile in a bug report. Machine learning models for chemical property predictions are high dimension design challenges spanning multiple disciplines. Free and open-source software libraries have streamlined the model implementation process, but the design complexity remains. In order better navigate and understand the machine learning design space, model information needs to be organized and contextualized. In this work, instances of chemical property models and their associated parameters were stored in a Neo4j property graph database. Machine learning model instances were created with permutations of dataset, learning algorithm, molecular featurization, data scaling, data splitting, hyperparameters, and hyperparameter optimization techniques. Much of the evolving research on the use of social media in destination marketing emphasizes how information diffusion influences the reputational image of place. The present study uses Twitter data to focus on the relative differences in user engagement across discrete account types. Specifically, this is done to examine how the official destination marketing organization of Montana—the Montana Office of Tourism (MTOT)—performs relative to other account types. Several regression analyses conducted on Twitter data associated with an ongoing MTOT place branding campaign reveal that tweets sent from ‘official’ accounts are more likely to be retweeted, and are estimated to receive …

Software engineering projects that utilize inappropriate pathfinding algorithms carry a

significant risk of poor runtime performance for customers. Using social network theory,

this experimental study examined the impact of algorithms, frameworks, and map

complexity on elapsed time and computer memory consumption. The 1,800 2D map

samples utilized were computer random generated and data were collected and processed

using Python language scripts. Memory consumption and elapsed time results for each of

the 12 experimental treatment groups were compared using factorial MANOVA to

determine the impact of the 3 independent variables on elapsed time and computer

Responding to email is a time-consuming task that is a requirement for most professions. Many people find themselves answering the same questions over and over, repeatedly replying with answers they have written previously either in whole or in part. In this thesis, the Automatic Mail Reply (AMR) system is implemented to help with repeated email response creation. The system uses past email interactions and, through unsupervised statistical learning, attempts to recover relevant information to give to the user to assist in writing their reply.
