An Analysis Of Software Testing Practices On Migrations From On Premise To Cloud Hosted Environments, Ronan Mullen Jan 2018

An Analysis Of Software Testing Practices On Migrations From On Premise To Cloud Hosted Environments, Ronan Mullen

Dissertations

This research project examines the differences between software testing practices that are carried out on software that is installed locally (i.e. on premise) versus software that has migrated to a cloud hosted environment. In conjunction with this, focus was placed on determining what methodologies and frameworks are in existence for assisting with software migrations to the cloud. The reason for carrying out this research project was that the transition to cloud computing is becoming more and more mainstream, as a result organisations are required to focus their efforts on how best to move their software to the cloud while ensuring …

Cloud Merge: Heterogeneous Cloud Application Migration Using Platform As A Service, Mayank Jain Dec 2016

Cloud Merge: Heterogeneous Cloud Application Migration Using Platform As A Service, Mayank Jain

Computer Science and Engineering Theses

With the evolution of cloud service providers offering numerous services such as SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, options for enterprises to choose the best set of services under optimal costs have also increased. The migration of web applications across these heterogeneous platforms comes with ample of options to choose from, providing users the flexibility to choose the best options suiting their requirements. This process of migration must be automated to ensure the security, performance and availability, keeping the cost to be optimal while moving the application from one platform to another. A multi-tier web application will have many dependencies such as the …

Cloud Computing And Enterprise Data Reliability, Luan Gashi Oct 2016

Cloud Computing And Enterprise Data Reliability, Luan Gashi

UBT International Conference

Cloud services offer many benefits from information and communication technology that to be credible must first be secured. To use the potential of cloud computing, data is transferred, processed and stored in the infrastructures of these service providers. This indicates that the owners of data, particularly enterprises, have puzzled when storing their data is done outside the scope of their control.

Research conducted on this topic show how this should be addressed unequivocally. The provided information on the organization of cloud computing models, services and standards, with a focus on security aspects in protecting enterprise data where emphasis shows how …

The concept of cloud computing is currently being widely adopted by many business and organizations. Cloud Computing offers immense amount of resources, available for end users by employing various flexible paying methods. The opportunity to choose between several cloud providers is referred by complexity of integrated cloud computing solution. Cloud services offer many benefits to the data owner and users, but to take advantage of the benefits of cloud computing and to make the cloud viable as a computing platform, the data and the service hosted in the cloud must be fully secured. This research paper points out how third …

Cloud Computing: Architectural And Policy Implications, Christopher S. Yoo Apr 2011

Cloud Computing: Architectural And Policy Implications, Christopher S. Yoo

All Faculty Scholarship

Cloud computing has emerged as perhaps the hottest development in information technology. Despite all of the attention that it has garnered, existing analyses focus almost exclusively on the issues that surround data privacy without exploring cloud computing’s architectural and policy implications. This article offers an initial exploratory analysis in that direction. It begins by introducing key cloud computing concepts, such as service-oriented architectures, thin clients, and virtualization, and discusses the leading delivery models and deployment strategies that are being pursued by cloud computing providers. It next analyzes the economics of cloud computing in terms of reducing costs, transforming capital expenditures …
