A Novel Evolutionary Algorithm For Designing Robust Analog Filters, Shaobo Li, Wang Zou, Jianjun Hu Mar 2018

A Novel Evolutionary Algorithm For Designing Robust Analog Filters, Shaobo Li, Wang Zou, Jianjun Hu

Faculty Publications

Designing robust circuits that withstand environmental perturbation and device degradation is critical for many applications. Traditional robust circuit design is mainly done by tuning parameters to improve system robustness. However, the topological structure of a system may set a limit on the robustness achievable through parameter tuning. This paper proposes a new evolutionary algorithm for robust design that exploits the open-ended topological search capability of genetic programming (GP) coupled with bond graph modeling. We applied our GP-based robust design (GPRD) algorithm to evolve robust lowpass and highpass analog filters. Compared with a traditional robust design approach based on a state-of-the-art …

Electronically Tunable Grounded/Floating Inductance Simulators Using Z-Copy Cfccc, Alok Kumar Singh, Pragati Kumar, Raj Senani Jan 2018

Electronically Tunable Grounded/Floating Inductance Simulators Using Z-Copy Cfccc, Alok Kumar Singh, Pragati Kumar, Raj Senani

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper, new electronically tunable grounded and floating inductance simulators employing a Z-copy current follower current controlled conveyor (CFCCC) and one grounded capacitor have been proposed and their workability has been demonstrated by PSPICE simulations in 0.18-$\mu $m TSMC CMOS technology.

A Low-Voltage And Low-Power Sinh-Domain Universal Biquadratic Filter For Low-Frequency Applications, Farooq Khanday, Nisar Shah Jan 2013

A Low-Voltage And Low-Power Sinh-Domain Universal Biquadratic Filter For Low-Frequency Applications, Farooq Khanday, Nisar Shah

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Sinh-domain CMOS filters have favorable properties, such as a wide dynamic range at low supply voltage, compactness, linearity, and low power consumption. These properties are becoming increasingly important for biomedical applications that require extremely low-power dissipation and neuromorphic circuits that attempt to reproduce the biophysics of biological neurons and synapses. In this paper, a low-voltage sinh-domain universal biquadratic filter circuit is introduced. The circuit, aside from permitting the independent adjustment of pole frequency (\omega_0) and the quality factor (Q), is free from matching conditions, capable of absorbing the shunt parasitic capacitances, amenable for monolithic integration, and composed of merely a …

Analog Feedback Control Of Broadband Fan Noise, Cole Victor Duke Jul 2012

Analog Feedback Control Of Broadband Fan Noise, Cole Victor Duke

Theses and Dissertations

Active noise control (ANC) has been implemented using analog filters to reduce broadband noise from a small axial cooling fan. Previous work successfully attenuated narrow-band, tonal portions of the noise using a digital controller. The practical performance limits of this system were reached and it was desirable to attenuate the noise further. Additional research, therefore, sought to attenuate broadband noise from the fan using a digital controller, but performance was limited by the group delay inherent in the digital signal processor (DSP). Current research attempts to further attenuate broadband noise and improve performance of the system by combining the tonal …
