A Survey Of Typical Attributed Graph Queries, Yanhao Wang, Yuchen Li, Ju Fan, Chang Ye, Mingke Chai
A Survey Of Typical Attributed Graph Queries, Yanhao Wang, Yuchen Li, Ju Fan, Chang Ye, Mingke Chai
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Graphs are commonly used for representing complex structures such as social relationships, biological interactions, and knowledge bases. In many scenarios, graphs not only represent topological relationships but also store the attributes that denote the semantics associated with their vertices and edges, known as attributed graphs. Attributed graphs can meet demands for a wide range of applications, and thus a variety of queries on attributed graphs have been proposed. However, these diverse types of attributed graph queries have not been systematically investigated yet. In this paper, we provide an extensive survey of several typical types of attributed graph queries. We propose …

Defect prediction has been an active research area for over four decades. Despite numerous studies on defect prediction, the potential value of defect prediction in practice remains unclear. To address this issue, we performed a mixed qualitative and quantitative study to investigate what practitioners think, behave and expect in contrast to research findings when it comes to defect prediction. We collected hypotheses from open-ended interviews and a literature review, followed by a validation survey. We received 395 responses from practitioners. Some of our key findings include: 1) Over 90% of respondents are willing to adopt defect prediction techniques. 2) There …
What Drives Property Owners To Modify Their Shorelines? A Case Study Of Gloucester County, Virginia, Sarah Stafford, Amanda Guthrie
What Drives Property Owners To Modify Their Shorelines? A Case Study Of Gloucester County, Virginia, Sarah Stafford, Amanda Guthrie
VIMS Articles
This analysis uses data from a survey of shoreline property owners combined with data on shoreline modification permits to examine whether and how property owners modify their estuarine shorelines. We find that shoreline armoring is very popular among property owners that choose to modify their shoreline. While living shorelines are less common, applications for them are increasing both in absolute numbers and as a percentage of all shoreline modification requests. A number of different issues factor into the shoreline modification decision including effectiveness, cost, aesthetics, and property values. More valuable parcels are more likely to be modified, as are parcels …
Attribute-Based Encryption For Cloud Computing Access Control: A Survey, Yinghui Zhang, Robert H. Deng, Shengmin Xu, Jianfei Sun, Qi Li, Dong Zheng
Attribute-Based Encryption For Cloud Computing Access Control: A Survey, Yinghui Zhang, Robert H. Deng, Shengmin Xu, Jianfei Sun, Qi Li, Dong Zheng

Attribute-based encryption (ABE) for cloud computing access control is reviewed in this article. A taxonomy and comprehensive assessment criteria of ABE are first proposed. In the taxonomy, ABE schemes are assorted into key-policy ABE (KP-ABE) schemes, ciphertext-policy ABE (CP-ABE) schemes, anti-quantum ABE schemes, and generic constructions. In accordance with cryptographically functional features, CP-ABE is further divided into nine subcategories with regard to basic functionality, revocation, accountability, policy hiding, policy updating, multi-authority, hierarchy, offline computation, and outsourced computation. In addition, a systematical methodology for discussing and comparing existing ABE schemes is proposed. For KP-ABE and each type of CP-ABE, the corresponding …
Transect Survey Biases And Correction Methods In Southern Africa, Erika Swenson, Larkin Powell
Transect Survey Biases And Correction Methods In Southern Africa, Erika Swenson, Larkin Powell
UCARE Research Products
In southern Africa, transect surveys and distance-based analyses are often used to obtain density and population estimates for species in large reserves or management zones. However, these estimates may be biased by unnaturally large concentrations of animals at waterholes that are on or near the path of the transect. We used empirical survey data from the Namibrand Nature Reserve in southwest Namibia to parameterize spatial simulations in which we distributed gemsbok (Oryx gazella) on a grid along a 50-kilometer transect. We created multiple simulations with and without waterholes to determine how the proportion of animals clumped at the …
Statistical Modeling Of Harassment Against Reddit Moderators, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Haewoon Kwak
Statistical Modeling Of Harassment Against Reddit Moderators, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Haewoon Kwak

Despite the dedication that some volunteer moderators of online communities display when performing their moderation duties, they become targets of hate and harassment by other users. To understand what causes the change in moderator role from heroes to victims, we analyze the responses of 1,818 moderators on Reddit to an online survey about moderation practices and harassment. We built a statistical model and found 6 significant independent variables that affect harassment on moderators, such as the knowledge of community norms, which increases harassment on moderators the most. Our findings imply that vulnerable moderators in toxic communities need countermeasures against harassment.
Eelgrass Health Survey And Results, Nicholas B. Anderson, Catherine M. Ashcraft, Dante D. Torio, Frederick T. Short
Eelgrass Health Survey And Results, Nicholas B. Anderson, Catherine M. Ashcraft, Dante D. Torio, Frederick T. Short
Natural Resources & the Environment
Researchers at the University of New Hampshire designed, tested, and conducted an eelgrass health survey. The primary goal of the survey was to collect health ratings from respondents who had viewed pre-selected images of eelgrass representing a wide range of health conditions. Survey results were used as a calibration and validation to a novel eelgrass health index developed using video-monitoring. Two secondary goals of this this survey were the identification of plant-specific and environmental characteristics important to respondents and the introduction of the new eelgrass health index. This published dataset includes de-identified survey respondent background and demographic data, the survey …
Economic Estimates Of Invasive Wild Pig Damage To Crops In 12 Us States, Sophie Mckee, Aaron Anderson, Keith Carlisle, Stephanie A. Shwiff
Economic Estimates Of Invasive Wild Pig Damage To Crops In 12 Us States, Sophie Mckee, Aaron Anderson, Keith Carlisle, Stephanie A. Shwiff
USDA Wildlife Services: Staff Publications
We report the results of a survey on invasive wild pig (Sus scrofa L.) damage and control in 12 US states (Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas). The crops chosen for this study represent the “second-tier” in terms of economic importance after the six crops that were the subject of Anderson et al. (2016). The survey was distributed by the USDA National Agricultural Statistical Service (NASS) in the summer of 2019 to a sample of producers in each of the states (except California) of the following six crops: hay, pecans (Carya …
