A Survey Of Typical Attributed Graph Queries, Yanhao Wang, Yuchen Li, Ju Fan, Chang Ye, Mingke Chai

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Graphs are commonly used for representing complex structures such as social relationships, biological interactions, and knowledge bases. In many scenarios, graphs not only represent topological relationships but also store the attributes that denote the semantics associated with their vertices and edges, known as attributed graphs. Attributed graphs can meet demands for a wide range of applications, and thus a variety of queries on attributed graphs have been proposed. However, these diverse types of attributed graph queries have not been systematically investigated yet. In this paper, we provide an extensive survey of several typical types of attributed graph queries. We propose …

Attribute-based encryption (ABE) for cloud computing access control is reviewed in this article. A taxonomy and comprehensive assessment criteria of ABE are first proposed. In the taxonomy, ABE schemes are assorted into key-policy ABE (KP-ABE) schemes, ciphertext-policy ABE (CP-ABE) schemes, anti-quantum ABE schemes, and generic constructions. In accordance with cryptographically functional features, CP-ABE is further divided into nine subcategories with regard to basic functionality, revocation, accountability, policy hiding, policy updating, multi-authority, hierarchy, offline computation, and outsourced computation. In addition, a systematical methodology for discussing and comparing existing ABE schemes is proposed. For KP-ABE and each type of CP-ABE, the corresponding …

Community Involvement In Flood Mitigation: A Survey-Based Approach In Marion County, Sc, Lillian C. Howie

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Marion County is located in northern South Carolina between the Great Pee Dee and Little Pee Dee Rivers. Because Marion County was the location of severe flooding during hurricanes Matthew (2016) and Florence (2018), the South Carolina Floodwater Commission identified Marion County as a location for drainage system improvement by the Infrastructure and Shoreline Armoring Task Force. In order to align plans for drainage system improvement with the needs of the local communities, commission chairman Thomas Mullikin requested a community survey to gauge the residents' personal experiences and views on what changes should be made to address the problem. The …

Transect Survey Biases And Correction Methods In Southern Africa, Erika Swenson, Larkin Powell Apr 2020

Transect Survey Biases And Correction Methods In Southern Africa, Erika Swenson, Larkin Powell

UCARE Research Products

In southern Africa, transect surveys and distance-based analyses are often used to obtain density and population estimates for species in large reserves or management zones. However, these estimates may be biased by unnaturally large concentrations of animals at waterholes that are on or near the path of the transect. We used empirical survey data from the Namibrand Nature Reserve in southwest Namibia to parameterize spatial simulations in which we distributed gemsbok (Oryx gazella) on a grid along a 50-kilometer transect. We created multiple simulations with and without waterholes to determine how the proportion of animals clumped at the …

Statistical Modeling Of Harassment Against Reddit Moderators, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Haewoon Kwak

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Despite the dedication that some volunteer moderators of online communities display when performing their moderation duties, they become targets of hate and harassment by other users. To understand what causes the change in moderator role from heroes to victims, we analyze the responses of 1,818 moderators on Reddit to an online survey about moderation practices and harassment. We built a statistical model and found 6 significant independent variables that affect harassment on moderators, such as the knowledge of community norms, which increases harassment on moderators the most. Our findings imply that vulnerable moderators in toxic communities need countermeasures against harassment.

Development On Of An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-Based Orangutan Population Assessment And Monitoring Method For The Multifunctional Landscape Of East Kalimantan, Indonesia, Muhammad Sugihono Hanggito

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

Deforestation, habitat degradation, and other forms of land conversion are threatening the existence of orangutans (Pongo spp.), the critically endangered great apes that only live on the two large Sunda-shelf islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Currently, orangutan populations persist not only within conservation or protected areas but also in other functional landscapes such as forest/acacia plantations, oil palm plantations, and mining concessions. The presence of orangutan populations in this recently modified multifunctional landscape has the potential to exacerbate human-orangutan conflict, which could further threaten orangutan populations. Lack of information about the distribution and size of orangutan populations hampers long term …
