Regression Analysis Of Success In Major League Baseball, Johnathon Tyler Clark

Senior Theses

This thesis is designed to explore whether a team’s success in any given season can be predicted or explained by any number of statistics in that season. There are thirty teams in the MLB; of these thirty, ten make the postseason bracket-style playoffs. The MLB is divided up into two leagues, the American League and the National League; these two leagues are then divided up into three divisions each, the West Division, the Central Division, and the East Division. Contemporary Environmental Imagery: An Analysis, Kira Nicole Koppel

Senior Theses

Imagery is a widely used method of communication. It contains phenomenal power in its ability to connect to an audience and convey ideas. These types of imagery are used as a call to action, for eco-tourism promotion, and in political campaigns, as can be seen in imagery distributed by New Zealand tourism companies and the South Carolina Conservation Voters. Historical images, particularly World War II propaganda and retro eco-tourism posters, have been reutilized to promote environmental messages. However, these images bring …

From The Sewing Room To The Ballroom, The Evolution Of Ballroom Dance Costumes, Jessica Marie Russell

I also have been sewing since I was a child; I helped do minor repairs in the costume room for ballet productions, and recently began making clothing for myself. I …

Use Of Prescribed Fire Is Heating Up: Educating About Controlled Burning Programs In The State Parks Of Upstate South Carolina, Laura Alexandra Woodlee

Senior Theses

While the use of prescribed fire, or controlled burning, is a land management practice that many ecologists are familiar with, many members of the general public may still be unsure of the purpose, use, and benefits of this practice. These small-scale, intentionally set fires have the capacity to greatly improve the management of habitats and ecosystems across the state of South Carolina, but without public support, the likelihood of these programs’ successes diminishes considerably. Public support is imperative and in order to ensure it, organizations must start with education. This paper intends to explain prescribed fire, how it is accomplished, …

The Chemistry Of Photography, Nichole Marie Witten May 2016

The Chemistry Of Photography, Nichole Marie Witten

Senior Theses

People nowadays are used to instant gratification when it comes to taking photographs. They look at a digital display, click a button, and get a perfectly focused and lighted picture that they can see right away. New technologies enable people to have pocket-sized digital cameras, their smart phones, with them at all times, and they’re easy convenient, and fast. Behind a single lens reflex (SLR) film camera, the scenario is much different. More time is needed in framing the image and adjusting the aperture and shutter speed to get the correct exposure, and the film must be processed darkroom before …
