Triple Coincidence Beam Spin Asymmetry Measurements In Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering, Mustafa Canan Apr 2011

Triple Coincidence Beam Spin Asymmetry Measurements In Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering, Mustafa Canan

Physics Theses & Dissertations

The Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) provides hitherto the most complete information about the quark structure of hadron. GPDs are accessible through hard-exclusive reactions, among which Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) is the cleanest reaction. A dedicated DVCS experiment on Hydrogen (E00-110) ran in the Hall A at Jefferson Laboratory in Fall 2004. I present here Beam Spin Asymmetry (BSA) results for the epepγ reaction studied in the E00-110 experiment with fully exclusive triple coincidence H(e, e'γp ) detection. I present a re-calibration of the electromagnetic calorimeter used to detect the high energy photon. This calibration …

Some Aspects Of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering, Elena Kuchina Apr 2004

Some Aspects Of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering, Elena Kuchina

Physics Theses & Dissertations

We consider different aspects of the virtual Compton amplitude in QCD on two examples: small-x physics accessible in the Regge regime and twist-3 approximation in the description of DVCS through the general parton distributions. Using this model, we give an estimate for the cross section of deeply virtual Compton scattering for the kinematics of CEBAF at Jefferson Lab.

Virtual Compton Scattering In The Nucleon Resonance Region, Luminita Anca Todor Jan 2000

Virtual Compton Scattering In The Nucleon Resonance Region, Luminita Anca Todor

Physics Theses & Dissertations

This thesis is a study of virtual Compton scattering reaction in which a virtual photon is elastically scattered off a proton γv p → γp. The p( e,ep)γ reaction was measured in the nucleon resonance region for the first time in the experiment E93-050 in Hall A at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. To lowest order in αQED, this reaction is a coherent superposition of radiation from the incident or scattered electron in elastic ep scattering (Bethe-Heitler) and exclusive production of a photon on the proton, by absorption of a virtual photon …
