Blueberry Drone Ai: Smart Farming Of Blueberries Using Artificial Intelligence And Autonomous Drones, Robert Czarnota, Anthony Segrest, Anthony Thompson, Harper Zappone, Hieu Nguyen, Nguyen Thanh, Ik Jae Lee, Lori Green, Tuan Le

STEM Student Research Symposium Posters

This project seeks to assist blueberry growers in New Jersey with preventing blueberry scorch disease. Plants can’t be cured of scorch, so they have to be removed to prevent the disease from spreading to other bushes. This project aims to use object detection and classifier machine learning models in order to detect scorch disease with photos from intelligent drones. Images are first tiled, then processed through and convolutional neural network that detects scorch symptoms. Lastly, a fully connected neural network is implemented to make a final prediction.

Extensions Of Algebraic Frames, Papiya Bhattacharjee Apr 2024

Extensions Of Algebraic Frames, Papiya Bhattacharjee

Mathematics Colloquium Series

A frame is a complete lattice that satisfies a strong distributive law, known as the frame law. Frames are also known as Pointfree Topology, as every topology is a frame. Even though the concept of frames originated from topology, the idea has expanded to many other areas of mathematics and frames are now studied in their own merit. Given two frame L and M, we say M is an extension of L if L is a subframe of M. In this talk we will discuss different types of frames extensions, such as Rigid extension, r-extension, and r*-extension between two frames. …

Hgs-3 The Influence Of A Tandem Cycling Program In The Community On Physical And Functional Health, Therapeutic Bonds, And Quality Of Life For Individuals And Care Partners Coping With Parkinson’S Disease, Leila Djerdjour, Jennifer L. Trilk

SC Upstate Research Symposium

Purpose Statement: Several studies have shown that aerobic exercise can have a positive impact on alleviating symptoms experienced by individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). Despite this evidence, the potential benefits of exercise for both PD patients and their care partners (PD dyad) remain unexplored. This research project investigates the effectiveness, therapeutic collaborations, and physical outcomes of a virtual reality (VR) tandem cycling program specifically designed for PD dyads.

Methods: Following approval from the Prisma Health Institutional Review Board, individuals with PD were identified and screened by clinical neurologists. The pre-testing measures for PD dyads (N=9) included emotional and cognitive status …

Optimal Control Of Coefficients For The Second Order Parabolic Free Boundary Problems, Ali Hagverdiyev Apr 2024

Optimal Control Of Coefficients For The Second Order Parabolic Free Boundary Problems, Ali Hagverdiyev

Mathematics Colloquium Series

In this talk I will discuss Inverse Stefan type free boundary problem for the second order parabolic equation arising for instance, in modeling of laser ablation of biomedical tissues, where the information on the coefficients, heat flux on the fixed boundary, and density of heat sources are missing and must be found along with the temperature and free boundary. New PDE constrained optimal control framework is employed, where the missing data and the free boundary are components of the control vector, and optimality criteria are based on the final moment measurement of the temperature and position of the free boundary. …

Optimal Control For Delayed Nanoparticle Dosing Models Using Conformable Derivatives, Drew Barnes, Micah Duffield, Abi Waters Apr 2024

Optimal Control For Delayed Nanoparticle Dosing Models Using Conformable Derivatives, Drew Barnes, Micah Duffield, Abi Waters

2024 Student Academic Showcase

Previously, a research group used a theoretical state-space framework to study the effects nanoparticles had on cancerous tumors in mice. Since sensors are used to determine the number of nanoparticles found in the bloodstream, it is natural for a time delay to occur when making adjustments to the dosage. Here, an equal time delay has been put on the state and control to study the effects of multiple dosage strategies. However, these researchers did not consider how the absorption of these nanoparticles would affect treatment. In this project, we construct a model using a conformable derivative first introduced by Khalil …

It also contains two large lakes and shopping centers that attracts visitors to the area. As a result, there has been a number of traffic accidents in the area. The Police Department has requested that Lindenwood’s PIC Math group review data from 2018-2023 to identify patterns. The group has reviewed the crash data at several locations and under multiple conditions and has uncovered some noticeable trends. The …

Session 8: Machine Learning Based Behavior Of Non-Opec Global Supply In Crude Oil Price Determinism, Mofe Jeje Feb 2024

Session 8: Machine Learning Based Behavior Of Non-Opec Global Supply In Crude Oil Price Determinism, Mofe Jeje

SDSU Data Science Symposium

Abstract

While studies on global oil price variability, occasioned by OPEC crude oil supply, is well documented in energy literature; the impact assessment of non-OPEC global oil supply on price variability, on the other hand, has not received commensurate attention. Given this gap, the primary objective of this study, therefore, is to estimate the magnitude of oil price determinism that is explained by the share of non-OPEC’s global crude oil supply. Using secondary sources of data collection method, data for target variable will be collected from the US Federal Reserve, as it relates to annual crude oil price variability, while …

The Vulnerabilities To The Rsa Algorithm And Future Alternative Algorithms To Improve Security, James Johnson Dec 2023

The Vulnerabilities To The Rsa Algorithm And Future Alternative Algorithms To Improve Security, James Johnson

Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase

The RSA encryption algorithm has secured many large systems, including bank systems, data encryption in emails, several online transactions, etc. Benefiting from the use of asymmetric cryptography and properties of number theory, RSA was widely regarded as one of most difficult algorithms to decrypt without a key, especially since by brute force, breaking the algorithm would take thousands of years. However, in recent times, research has shown that RSA is getting closer to being efficiently decrypted classically, using algebraic methods, (fully cracked through limited bits) in which elliptic-curve cryptography has been thought of as the alternative that is stronger than …

1324-Avoiding (0,1)-Matrices, Megan Bennett Nov 2023

1324-Avoiding (0,1)-Matrices, Megan Bennett

Mathematics Colloquium Series

A 1324-avoiding (0,1)-matrix is an 𝑚×𝑛 matrix that does not contain the 1324-pattern. Our goal is to find the maximum number of 1’s that an 𝑚 × 𝑛 1324-avoiding (0,1)-matrix can contain. We build upon Brualdi and Cao’s recent work, where they characterized the 𝑚 × 𝑛 1234-avoiding matrices with the maximum number of 1’s. They found that these matrices can contain up to 3(𝑚 + 𝑛 − 3) 1’s. We originally conjectured that 1324-avoiding matrices must contain at most the same number of 1’s, as is the case with the six patterns formed by permutations of {1,2,3}. However, we …
