The Extent And Cost Of Waterlogging, Don Mcfarlane, Buddy Wheaton
The Extent And Cost Of Waterlogging, Don Mcfarlane, Buddy Wheaton
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Waterlogging is an underrated and not widely recognized problem in our cropping areas. Before we can tackle the problem through drainage and alternative cropping systems, we need to know its extent and how much crop yield is lost. The effect of waterlogging on pasture growth is also poorly known.
Causes Of Waterlogging, Jim Cox, Don Mcfarlane
Causes Of Waterlogging, Jim Cox, Don Mcfarlane
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Waterlogging is highly variable, both between years and within paddocks. This residts in uncertainty as to whether a paddock should be cropped in a particular year, and whether different management should be used on waterlogged areas within a paddock
A study has determined what are the most important causes of waterlogged soils.

Darling Range Rural Land Capability Study, Peter Donald King, M R. Wells
Darling Range Rural Land Capability Study, Peter Donald King, M R. Wells
Land resources series
This report presents land resource mapping and land capability assessments for rural residential and associated agricultural activities at a scale of 1:50,000 over 100,000 ha of rural land in Perth's eastern metropolitan hills area. The study area is bounded to the west by the Great Northern, Albany, Roe and South Western highways, and extends north, east and south to the boundary of the Perth metropolitan area. Using the broad framework of landform-soil associations defined by Churchward and McArthur (1980), discrete mapping units have been delineated by reference to landform and soil characteristics likely to affect future land uses. They provide …

Busselton, Margaret River, Augusta: Land Capability Study, Peter J. Tille, Neil Clifton Lantzke
Land resources series
The study was done to ensure that information on the area's land resource, and its capability, is available for land use planning. This information will assist planners to make decisions which can allow for the optimal development of the land while avoiding land degradation or land use conflicts. A map showing the distribution of land units defined according to soil type, topography, drainage and wind exposure was prepared at a scale of 1:50,000. From this map a smaller scale, less detailed land systems map was drawn. Land capability, the ability of land to sustain a specific use without undesirable on-site …

Geraldton Rural-Residential Land Capability Study, R A. Dye, A M E Van Vreeswyk, Geoff Allan Moore
Land resources series
With a growing population in the Geraldton area, there is a demand for rural and coastal subdivision to provide for rural residential development and intensification of agricultural activities. Future land use planning for land use change and management of land to overcome existing land degradation problems should be based on land capability. This study provides a semi-detailed (1:50,000) soil and landform inventory for the immediate zone around Geraldton, south from Coronation Beach to Cape Burney along the coast, 13.7 km inland in the north and 7.6 km inland in the south. Eight land systems were identified in the land resource …

The programme is a collaborative one with the University of Western Australia and consists of two phases: (i) early generation selection, which involves selecting varieties satisfying primary selection criteria; and (ii) field evaluation of advanced lines, which is conducted by the Departments of Agriculture in each State and co—ordinated by the Plant Breeder.
The first phase is conducted at the University Field Station (UFS) and is continued until …

This is in contract to 375 ml most emergent which had good control of mustard (77%) and suppression of ryegrass. There was no yield advantage from the post emergent treatment but there was a 55% yield increase from …
