Design Of A Miniaturized Planar Microstrip Wilkinson Power Divider With Harmonic Cancellation, Saeedeh Lotfi, Saeed Roshani, Sobhan Roshani

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper, a compact microstrip Wilkinson power divider is designed and proposed using rectangularshaped resonator cells. The presented resonator cells are used instead of quarter-wave length branches in the traditional structure to reduce the circuit size, increase the bandwidth, and eliminate the unwanted harmonics. The designed resonator behavior is studied analytically and the locations of transmission zeros are investigated using transfer function andLCequivalentcircuitmethods. The proposed power divider(PD)operates at 2GHz frequency and suppresses the 2nd to 14th unwanted harmonics. The proposed PD achieves approximately 50% size reduction and 40%fractional bandwidth (FBW). The abilities of desirable size reduction and harmonic suppression …

A Novel S-Box-Based Postprocessing Method For True Random Number Generation, Erdi̇nç Avaroğlu, Taner Tuncer

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The quality of randomness in numbers generated by true random number generators (TRNGs) depends on the source of entropy. However, in TRNGs, sources of entropy are affected by environmental changes and this creates a correlation between the generated bit sequences. Postprocessing is required to remove the problem created by this correlation in TRNGs. In this study, an S-box-based postprocessing structure is proposed as an alternative to the postprocessing structures seen in the published literature. A ring oscillator (RO)-based TRNG is used to demonstrate the use of an S-box for postprocessing and the removal of correlations between number sequences. The statistical …

Filter Design For Small Target Detection On Infrared Imagery Using Normalized-Cross-Correlation Layer, Hüseyi̇n Seçki̇n Demi̇r, Erdem Akagündüz

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

n this paper, we introduce a machine learning approach to the problem of infrared small target detection filter design. For this purpose, similar to a convolutional layer of a neural network, the normalized-cross-correlational (NCC) layer, which we utilize for designing a target detection/recognition filter bank, is proposed. By employing the NCC layer in a neural network structure, we introduce a framework, in which supervised training is used to calculate the optimal filter shape and the optimum number of filters required for a specific target detection/recognition task on infrared images. We also propose the mean-absolute-deviation NCC (MAD-NCC) layer, an efficient implementation …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Personalization is a common technique used in Web search engines to improve the effectiveness of retrieval. While personalizing some queries yields significant improvements in user experience by providing a ranking in line with the user preferences, it fails to improve or even degrades the effectiveness for less ambiguous queries. A potential personalization metric could improve search engines by selectively applying personalization. One such measure, click entropy uses the query history and the clicked documents for the query, which might be sparse for some queries. In this article, the topic entropy measure is improved by integrating the user distribution into the …

A Novel Genome Analysis Method With The Entropy-Based Numerical Techniqueusing Pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks, Bi̇hter Daş, Suat Toraman, İbrahi̇m Türkoğlu Jan 2020

A Novel Genome Analysis Method With The Entropy-Based Numerical Techniqueusing Pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks, Bi̇hter Daş, Suat Toraman, İbrahi̇m Türkoğlu

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The identification of DNA sequences as exon and intron is a common problem in genome analysis. The methods used for feature extraction and mapping techniques for the digitization of sequences affect directly the solution of this problem. The existing mapping techniques are not enough to detect coding and noncoding regions in some genomes because the digital representation of each base in a DNA sequence with an integer does not fully reflect the structure of an original DNA sequence. In the entropy-based mapping technique, we could overcome this problem because the technique deepens distinction rates of exon regions, and better reflects …

Fuzzy Genetic Based Dynamic Spectrum Allocation (Fgdsa) Approach For Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks, Ganesan Rajesh, Xavier Mercilin Raajini, Kulandairaj Martin Sagayam, Bharat Bhushan, Utku Kose

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Cognitive Radio Sensor Network (CRSN) is known as a distributed network of wireless cognitive radio sensor nodes. Such system senses an event signal and ensures collaborative dynamic communication processes over the spectrum bands. Here, the concept of Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) denes the method of reaching progressively to the unused range of spectrum band. As among the essential CRSN user types, the Primary User (PU) has the license to access the spectrum band. On the other hand, the Secondary User (SU) tries to access the unused spectrum eciently, by not disturbing the PU. Considering that issue, this study introduces a …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In conventional time-modulated arrays (TMAs), because of the usage of the RF-switch, harmonics are generated at multiples of the modulation frequency. In this study, the synthesis of time-modulated arrays has been analyzed for cognitive radio (CR) systems, in which these harmonics are suitably exploited for more efficient utilization of the spectrum. In order to accomplish the desired pattern at requested harmonic frequencies, a new excitation strategy with sinusoidal signals is proposed. The use of sinusoidal waveforms creates independent beams, allowing independent steering capability. Moreover, by utilizing the subarray structure, it is possible to have a smaller number of excitation functions …

There exist few blind solutions for chaotic MIMO channel equalization. In this work, a chaotic MIMO channel equalization framework is proposed. The objective function to be minimized in the proposed solution is obtained by adopting the objective function developed for chaotic SISO channel equalization. Furthermore, an optimum filter that minimizes the proposed cost function is designed to recover chaotic input signals assuming that the channel is known. The stationary point of the adaptive solution is equal to the optimal filter if the adaptive filter coefficients change sufficiently slowly. The adaptive solution is contrasted with the optimum filter in terms of …
