Toxocariasis is a disease which indicates a wide symptomatic spectrum and occurs usually by the ingestion of infective Toxocara canis (rarely Toxocara cati) eggs by humans as a paratenic host. In this study, the sera samples of experimentally infected mice were evaluated on different days by IFAT and ELISA. Regarding the sera samples obtained on the 15^{th} and following days of the study, the groups seropositivity in IFAT by adult and larval sectional antigens and in TES-ELISA were 70, 73.3 and 96.7%, respectively. The aim of this study was to develop ELISA to examine antibodies against rinderpest virus (RPV) for vaccination programmes in the Malatya and Elazığ regions. Serum samples from 180 clinically healthy cattle in Malatya were obtained in the spring of 1995 and 157 serum samples from cattle were taken in the spring of 1996 in Elazığ. Aflatoxins that are toxic metabolites for human and animals were determined in some fish feed. Eighty-five unit samples taken from "fish farming processes", "feed factories" and "imported feeds" in 1998, 1999 and 2000 were analyzed. In the analysis, thin layer chromatography (TLC) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique were used. Consequently, aflatoxin levels above 20 ppb were detected in 20 samples and from 21.2 to 42.4 ppb in 85 samples. In 22 samples aflatoxin levels from 5.0 to 20.0 ppb were detected. Due to the recent increasing mortality rates in 1- to 4-month-old Thoroughbred foals with Rhodococcus equi infection in Turkey, serum samples from 454 foals between 30 and 60 days on studfarms of the Marmara Region, where the Thoroughbred foal population is concentrated, were investigated by ELISA for early diagnosis of the infection. The Tween 20-extracted antigen of the R. equi ATCC 6939 strain was used in the ELISA. Two hundred and nine (46%) of the 454 foals were found to be ELISA-positive. In this study, 275 serum samples collected from cattle at various ages and of both sexes, slaughtered at state or private abattoirs in Elazığ, Malatya and Diyarbakır were examined by MAT and ELISA for the presence of antibodies against Leptospira species. In the serological analysis, using antigens prepared from reference Leptospira hardjo, L. pomona, L. grippotyphosa, L. hebdomadis, and L. icterohaemorrhagiae cultures, 44 (16%) and 64 (23.3%) of the samples were determined to be positive with MAT and ELISA, respectively.

This study was undertaken to determine the presence of staphylococcal enterotoxin and the type of toxin present in pasteurized milk consumed in Ankara. For this purpose, a total of 250 milk samples, from 6 different firms with 130 samples coming from box containers and 120 of them in bottles, were used. All were purchased in Ankara. The samples were taken over a period of one year to reflect seasonal variability. This study was carried out in Malatya and vicinity to determine the seroprevalance of Babesia ovis in sheep. A total of 220 sheep sera were tested against B. ovis using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). In addition, peripheral blood smears from these sheep were prepared and examined for B. ovis. The ELISA test showed that 55.9% of sheep were seropositive for B. ovis infection. The infection rate was 49.2% in sheep which were 1-12 months old and 59% in sheep which were older than one year. In the microscopic examination of blood smears, four out of 220 sheep were found …

The aim of this study was to determine serum antibody levels against the Newcastle disease virus in vaccinated chicken flocks in addition to experimental animals by hemagglutination inhibition (HI)test and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compare the results. Methanol-precipitated antigen prepared from the LaSota strain of Newcastle disease virus was used with peroxidase-labelled rabbit anti-chicken IgG as a conjugate and ortho-phenylenediamine as a substrate in ELISA. In this study,antibodies against Brucella melitensis in aborted sheep were investigated with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), standard tube agglutination test (SAT), rose bengal plate test (RBPT), complement fixation test (CFT), 2-mercaptoethanol microagglutination test (2-ME-MAT)and dithiothreitol microagglutination test (DTT-MAT). The sensitivity and specificity of the tests were calculated by using CFT results as the gold standard. A Kappa value was used to measure the agreements between ELISA and the other tests. In this study, the induced antibody level of rainbow trout immunized by Yersinia ruckeri bacterin was determined using two serological techniques, namely, indirect fluorescent antibody (IFAT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The induced humoral antibody levels were studied after intraperitonal injection of Yersinia ruckeri bacterin inoculates containing Freund's incomplete adjuvant or PBS in rainbow trout during the experimental period of 20 weeks. The control and experimental groups each contained 20 fish. The group which was immunized by the PBS containing bacterin inoculate received a booster injection. Seroprevalence of Babesia ovis in Awassi sheep was studied in Urfa and environs between November 1997 and October 1998. A total of 607 serum samples were collected from sheep in 12 different localities, and tested for the presence of antibodies to B. ovis by using an indirect ELISA. Blood smears were also prepared from 110 sheep. The overall prevalence of B. ovis infection was 41.02%. B. ovis was only detected in two blood smears examined (1.82%). In this study, our aim was to diagnose lymphoid leukosis and Marek's disease, which are neoplastic diseases of chickens, by ELISA and Indirect Immunofluorescence Test (IIF), respectively. Samples (eggs and tissues) were selectively taken from the flocks suspected of having lymphoid leukosis and Marek's disease. The tissues were macroscopically and microscopically examined. Tissues belonging to some flocks showed typical lesions for lymphoid leukosis and Marek's disease. Seven broiler breede flocks and three commercial layer flocks were tested for avian leukosis virus (ALV) group specific antigen (p27) in the albumen. A total of 473 sera from hens of different age groups and different breeds and a total of 430 eggs were collected from 11 breeders and egg producers in the districts of Adapazarı, Afyon, Ankara and Konya. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), heat-extract (HE) and flagella antigens were tested in the standardizing ELISA technique. Flagella antigen was found useful in the screening of field samples. Of the 48 (10.2%) rapid plate agglutination positive sera, 7 were negative in ELISA. One hundred and twenty thoroughbred breeder mares with endometritis or infertility were investigated for the detection of antibodies to Taylorella equigenitalis by the passive haemagglutination (PHA) test and ELISA between 1997 and 1999 in the Marmara region and the two tests were compared. Fifty-eight (48.33 %) of 120 sera were found to be positive by the PHA test and 52 (43.33%) by ELISA. 22 of the sera were found to be positive by the PHA test reacted at 1/64 titer, 27 at 1/128, 7 at 1/256 and 2 at 1/512 titer. A comparative study of the Rose Bengal test (RBT), Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and complement fixation test (CFT) was performed to analyze sera of two Awassi flocks. Flock A was composed of 215 ewes, naturally infected with brucellosis. None of the animals were vaccinated. Flock B consisted of 336 non-infected non-vaccinated ewes. In this study, presence of antibodies to Ehrlichia risticii in the sera of 100 throughbreed horses brought to Turkey Jockey Club Stud from different regions was investigated by indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA), western immunoblotting, indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and competetive ELISA (CELISA) using monoclonal antibody. Ten sera gave various degrees of flourescence on IFA test. The sera giving fluorescence were sent to University of Maryland and the test was repeated. The results were similar.
