Physical examination revealed the dog was depressed and lethargy. The electrocardiography was performed and shown in Figure 1. The blood test showed normal complete blood count with normal kidney and liver blood profiles. The blood parasite was also negative. The thoracic radiograph revealed the whole heart enlargement …

Previous physical examination showed that the dog had heart murmur and hepatomegaly. Thoracic radiograph revealed severe cardiomegaly with pulmonary edema and ascites. The congenital cardiac disease was suspected. Since then the dog had been treated with diuretics (i.e. furosemide and hydralazine). The abdominocentesis was performed for a period of 4 months prior to hospital visit while frequency of fluid removal was escalated up to once a week.

A 14-year-old neutered female mixed breed dog weighing 12 kg was admitted at the in-patient unit of The Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Chulalongkorn University in October 2017 with clinical signs of depressed, anorexia, weakness and continuous vomiting. However, no sign of abdominal pain was found. History taking showed that the dog had gait disorientation due to central nervous system disorder. The dog also had murmur heart sound graded IV/VI without sign of cardiac disease since June 2017. The echocardiogram was performed which the results showed that the dog had moderate degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) with mild tricuspid regurgitation. The …

Effects Of Halving Intravaginal Sponges And Ecg Dose On Estrus Response And Fertility In Tahirova Ewes During The Breeding Season, Güven Kaşikçi, Ümüt Ci̇ri̇t, Mehmet Can Gündüz, Süleyman Bacinoğlu, Ahmet Sabuncu Jan 2011

Effects Of Halving Intravaginal Sponges And Ecg Dose On Estrus Response And Fertility In Tahirova Ewes During The Breeding Season, Güven Kaşikçi, Ümüt Ci̇ri̇t, Mehmet Can Gündüz, Süleyman Bacinoğlu, Ahmet Sabuncu

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to compare the effect of halving the intravaginal sponges impregnated with 20 mg of flugestone acetate (FGA; 20 or 10 mg) and a dose of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG; 600 or 300 IU) on fertility in Tahirova ewes. A total of 200 Tahirova ewes were randomly assigned to 1 of 2 groups during the breeding season. Half of the ewes (n = 100) were treated with whole intravaginal sponges (WS, 20 mg of FGA) and the other half (n = 100) with halved sponges (HS, 20 mg of FGA) for 14 days. The ewes …

Investigation Of The Effects Of Age, Sex And Season On Electrocardiographs (Ecg Values) And Heart Radiographs Of Healthy Van Cats, Di̇de Kiliçalp, Ali̇ Çinar Jan 2003

Investigation Of The Effects Of Age, Sex And Season On Electrocardiographs (Ecg Values) And Heart Radiographs Of Healthy Van Cats, Di̇de Kiliçalp, Ali̇ Çinar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of age, sex and season change on electrocardiograms of Van cats. Thirty-eight (male and female) healthy Van cats, 3-15 months old were used. Electrocardiograms (ECGs) and heart radiographs were obtained from cats seperately in summer, autumn, winter and spring. ECGs were recorded as bipolar, augmented unipolar and precordial leads (CV_6LL, CV_6LU, V_10). Durations and amplitudes of waves on the trace were measured in lead II and the electrical axis also measured in leads I and III. Radiographic examination was performed in the right lateral recumbency position (covering the whole thoracic cavity) …

Evaluation Of Dogs With Colitis And Ulcerative Colitis Using Radiographic, Electrocardiographic And Laboratory Findings, Ramazan Durgut, Sefa Çeli̇k, Savaş Öztürk, Selçuk Pekkaya

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Sixteen dogs with suspected colitis and ulcerative colitis were examined by clinical, radiographic, laboratory and electrocardiographic means from a diagnostic perspective. In the history and clinical examination, mild diarrheic feces mixed with uncoagulated blood and mucus were determined in all dogs. Tenesmus after defecation, mild weight loss and anemia were common observations. Abdominal palpation revealed a palpable thickened large intestine. Biochemical analyses of blood serums showed that potassium levels were increased, and sodium and total protein levels were decreased. A contrast radiographic examination showed that colon walls were thickened; stenosis, dilatation and shortening of the colons had occurred; and the …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to observe the effects on electrocardiography of using droperidol-fentanyl and ketamine-xylazine combinations, urethane and pentothal sodium as anaesthetic doses. In this study, thirty-five 4-5 months-old quinea pigs of both sexes weighing 540-600 g were used. The quinea pigs were divided equally into 5 groups. The first group was used as the control group and nothing was given to this group. The combination of droperidol (20 mg/ml)-fentanyl (0.4 mg/ml) in a dose of 0.8 ml/kg b.wt., was intramuscularly injected into the second group. The combination of ketamine-xylazine was intramuscularly injected into the third group in doses …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This investigation was made to observe the possible cardiotoxic effects of cyclophosphamide on electrocardiogram and whether these could be prevented by mesna or not. In this study, 24 albino male guinea pigs weighing 250-300 g were used and equally divided into 4 groups. The first (control) and second group animals were applied physiologic saline as placebo white the third and fourth group animals were given mesna (21.5 mg/kg) at 0, 180, 360 and 540th minutes intraperitonelly. In addition these, physiologic saline was injected to the first and third group animals whele cyclophosphamide (68,1 mg/kg) was given to the second to …
