The avian influenza virus is a global pathogen with significant health and economic implications. While primarily a pathogen of wild and domestic birds, recent outbreaks of the H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) clade 2.3.4.4b have caused mortality in a wide variety of mammals, including members of the Canidae family, on multiple continents. Despite sporadic mortality events globally, the epidemiology and pathobiology of H5N1 HPAIV in wild canids remains poorly defined. An excretory/secretory (E/S) product, common to many helminths, is neutrophil inhibitory factor (NIF) which negatively affects neutrophil migration and activity. Due to differences in neutrophil accumulation between parasite resistant St. Croix STC and parasite susceptible Suffolk (SUF) sheep, we hypothesized that Hc-NIF may inhibit migration of SUF and not STC neutrophils. Previous studies have demonstrated that Hc produces NIF but is not commercially available. To test our hypothesis, neutrophils were cultured from STC and SUF sheep in the presence of Ancylostoma caninum-derived NIF (Ac-NIF) and measure chemotaxis to Interleukin-8 (IL-8), HcLA or H. contortus third-stage excretory/secretory (E/S) products. Background: investigated the anatomical features and histological structures of the brain of adult common carp. In addition, these features were compared with those of other types of fish.
Methods: Adult fish (8- 18 M) were collected, their gross anatomical features were inspected; and small specimens from different brain parts were fixed, sectioned, stained, and histologically examined.
Results: In the common carp, the olfactory bulb was round, somewhat tiny, and connected to the telencephalon by a very long, thin olfactory tract. The hemispheres of the telencephalon were located rostrally. Only one median ventral telencephalic ventricle was visible. The torus longitudinalis and …

Feral swine (Sus scrofa) have been proposed as part of the lifecycles of multiple tickborne pathogens (TBP). This is a result of the increase in feral swine populations and increased tick populations and geographic ranges. Few surveys exist on the TBP relevant to human and wildlife of feral swine in the US. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus from the Arteriviridae family. PRRSV causes respiratory illness and reproductive failure in infected pigs. Outbreaks occurring in the United States and worldwide cause significant economic losses annually. Abelson (Abl) tyrosine kinase is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase, which plays a central role in regulating many cellular processes such as actin reorganization, cell proliferation and differentiation by transducing extracellular and intracellular signals. The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of growth performance, nutrient content and digestibility of different triticale varieties to ruminant diets and to indirectly assist farmers in feed production. The experiment utilized 5 triticale varieties. The study was designed as a randomized complete block design with split plots and 3 replications. The digestibility values were determined in vitro after 48 hours of incubation using the Daisy Ankom® digester. The common consensus is that owning pets affects human health positively. However, the effects of owning pets on mental health are still controversial. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the possible associated with depression, anxiety, stress, and owning cats and dogs in Türkiye. Additionally, the potential impact of personality traits on this relationship was examined. This study included 636 participants, of whom 52% were female (Mage = 33.02, SD = 15.78). In this study, the BMP15 and GDF9 gene regions were examined through DNA sequencing in some native sheep breeds of Türkiye (Kıvırcık, Karacabey Merino, Chios, Gökçeada, Çine Çaparı, Awassi, and Karakacan). In the BMP15 exon 2 region, two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified: one synonymous SNP, P248P (proline/proline), and one nonsynonymous SNP, L251P (leucine/proline), resulting in a missense mutation. In the GDF9 exon 1 region, only a nonsynonymous SNP, R87H (histidine/ arginine), was found. This study investigates the behavioral activities of grower Beetal kids fed in a conventional method-control group manner orgiven total mixed ration (TMR) (i.e. hay-based - T1 and green fodder-based - T2). Dermatophytosis is a potentially zoonotic superficial skin infection caused by keratinophilic fungi. Identification ofdermatophytes aids in understanding the epidemiology of infections and finding out better treatment modalities. The study aimed toidentify dermatophytes in dogs and compare the effectiveness of three different topical drugs for treating dermatophytosis. In the study, 12 (6 females, 6 males) healthy adult New Zealand rabbits were used to examine the morphometrical andstereological values. White matter, gray matter and total segment volume of the segments in the pars lumbalis were calculated byCavalieri’s principle. The findings were grouped according to sexand statistically evaluated. As a result, 38% of the length of the spinalcord in rabbits belonged to the pars lumbalis. The morphometric parameters were not statistically different between male and femalerabbits (p > 0.05). This study aimed to explore the effects of animal bypass fat (ABF) and palm bypass fat (PBF) added to the rations of Anatolianbuffaloes on dry matter consumption, feed conversion ratio, milk yield, some milk components, and parameters. A total of 21 heads ofbuffalo in the early lactation period; milk yield averages, lactation periods, lactation numbers, live weights, and ages were selected anddivided into three experimental groups, each consisting of 7 buffaloes. Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) causes severe watery diarrhea in pigs of all ages, but it is particularly devastating in neonatal piglets, where it can result in 100% mortality. Therefore, lactogenic immunity is crucial for protecting against PEDV infection and reducing its virulence. One method for controlling PEDV outbreaks involves using feedback as a protocol, which entails inoculating pregnant sows with infected-PEDV intestines from piglets to enhance lactogenic immunity against PEDV. Feline mammary carcinomas (FMC) are commonly found in female cats. Early detection is necessary to prevent both local and distant metastasis and increase survival times. However, the current protein biomarkers of FMC are limited. Canine multicentric lymphoma (CML) is a common hematopoietic neoplasm in dogs that initially responds well to treatment but often relapses due to chemotherapy resistance. Evaluating the treatment response is a critical factor in helping veterinary oncologists plan and adjust chemotherapeutic protocols. This study aims to investigate the use of basic diagnostic imaging techniques, such as ultrasound (US), advanced imaging, such as computed tomography (CT) and hematologic and blood chemistry parameters, to enhance the evaluation of treatment response for this disease. Juvenile Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) with an average body weight of 10 ± 0.7 g were used to investigate the efficacy of an inactivated Streptococcus iniae vaccine and the probiotic Bacillus subtilis. Fish were intraperitoneally vaccinated with 1012 CFU fish−1 of formalin-killed S. iniae (V) or sham vaccinated (S) with sterile normal saline solution (NSS). Both groups were fed with Bacillus probiotic (5 × 109 CFU kg-1 diet) for 6 weeks. This study investigates the impact of behavioral patterns during the transition and early postpartum periods on reproductive and lactation outcomes in tropical dairy cows, using the AfiTag-II biosensor to monitor activity, rest time, rest per bout, and restlessness ratio. Data from 298 prepartum and 347 postpartum Holstein Friesian cows, categorized by lactation number (1, 2, and ≥3), was analyzed. K-means clustering on 227 lactation records identified distinct behavioral groups, facilitating the assessment of reproductive traits through Cox regression and lactation curves using the Wood model. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major public health threat. The issue has disproportionately affected in low- and middle-income countries including Thailand and its neighboring counties where high rates of resistant Salmonella have been continuously reported in pigs, pork, and humans. BACKGROUND: Pancreatitis is an important cause of disease and death in dogs. Available circulating biomarkers are not sufficiently sensitive and specific for a definitive diagnosis.
HYPOTHESIS: Circulating microRNAs would be differentially expressed in dogs with chronic pancreatitis and could have potential as diagnostic biomarkers.
ANIMALS: Healthy controls (n = 19) and dogs with naturally occurring pancreatitis (n = 17).
