A comparative study of the Rose Bengal test (RBT), Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and complement fixation test (CFT) was performed to analyze sera of two Awassi flocks. Flock A was composed of 215 ewes, naturally infected with brucellosis. None of the animals were vaccinated. Flock B consisted of 336 non-infected non-vaccinated ewes. These served as nega-tive controls. The two flocks were each divided into 4 groups, and samples were collected from one group every 6 months and subjected to bacteriologic and serologic testing. Samples from any aborted ewes were also collected immediately after abortion and 6 weeks later. During the …

In this study, the parameters of the regression models for the lactation curve were estimated. A total of 45 standard milk yield records obtained from the first, the second and the third lactations of Jersey bred in Karaköy State Farm were used in the present study. Milk production records were corrected for the ages of cows ond the numbers of lactation. The parameters were estimated in two stages. In the first stage, the data were applied to the five nonlinear models, developed by different authors. The results out of the five models were discussed in detail. The best fitting model …

The Effect Of Atp-Dependent Potassium Channel Blocker, Glimeprid, On The Arrhythmiasobserved Following Ischemia And Reperfusion In Anesthesized Rats, Ömer Bozdoğan, Istvan Lepran, Julius Gy Pap

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In recent years, it has been discussed intensively whether the potassium channel openers or blockers have antiarrhythmic effect during ischemia and reperfusion. Although there are many in vitro studies suggesting the potassium channel blokers especial-ly glibenclamide have antiarrhythmic effect, there is a very few in vivo expertiment to support the same result. In the present study, left arteria coronaria descendence (LAD) was ligated in 6min and following reperfusion was made by relasing the ligature. ECG and arterial blood pressure were recorded during the ischemia and reperfusion. The heart rate, the length of arrhythmia, the score of arrhythmia and the number …
