Incidence Of Peripheral Neuropathy, Postural Stability Alteration, And Factors Associated With Fall In Patients With Breast Cancer During Taxane-Based Chemotherapy, Nida Rattanakrong
Incidence Of Peripheral Neuropathy, Postural Stability Alteration, And Factors Associated With Fall In Patients With Breast Cancer During Taxane-Based Chemotherapy, Nida Rattanakrong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The purpose of this study was to 1) investigate the incidence density of taxane-induced peripheral neuropathy (TIPN), which included sensory and motor neuropathy symptoms, and their risk factors, 2) investigate the static and dynamic postural stability during taxane-based chemotherapy, and 3) investigate the fall incidence density and risk factors in women with breast cancer who were undergoing taxane-based chemotherapy. TIPN symptoms and severity were evaluated by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer CIPN specific self-report questionnaire (EORTC QOL-CIPN20) (Thai version) and the numbers of falls were recorded in 141 participants. The postural stability was measured in static …
The Effect Of Walking Training With Textured Insole Socks On Standing Balance And Gait In Older Adults With A Risk Of Falls, Chanon Pinvanichkul
The Effect Of Walking Training With Textured Insole Socks On Standing Balance And Gait In Older Adults With A Risk Of Falls, Chanon Pinvanichkul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Previous research revealed that textured surface treatments improved standing balance performance or had a negative effect on gait performance in older adults. The new design textured insole socks were introduced in this study. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of textured insole socks on standing balance, gait parameters, and a risk of falls in older adults with a risk of falls. Thirty older adults with a risk of falls participated and randomly allocated equally to the intervention (texture insole socks) or control (unmodified socks) groups. Both groups were asked to walk on a 10-meter walkway for 2,000 steps/day, 3 …
Effects Of Textured Mat On Lower Limb Muscle Activities And Body Sway In Individuals With Chronic Ankle Instability, Nanthiphak Konphet
Effects Of Textured Mat On Lower Limb Muscle Activities And Body Sway In Individuals With Chronic Ankle Instability, Nanthiphak Konphet
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A textured mat with flexible nubs is a novel type of unstable surface offering more texture variety than a conventional unstable surface. A textured mat may be utilized to improve balance and muscular activation in individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI). The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of a textured mat versus a regular foam surface and a firm surface on lower limb muscle activity and postural control in individuals with CAI. This repeated measurements within subject study recruited 28 participants with CAI. A triaxial accelerometer and electromyograph were used to monitor the 10 muscles of …
Diagnostic Accuracy Of The Timed Up-And-Go Test With Different Types Of Cognitive Tasks For Mild Cognitive Impairment In Older Adults, Kanyakon Chanabangkaew
Diagnostic Accuracy Of The Timed Up-And-Go Test With Different Types Of Cognitive Tasks For Mild Cognitive Impairment In Older Adults, Kanyakon Chanabangkaew
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The Timed Up-and-Go test (TUG) test with cognitive tasks was a motor and cognitive dual-task approach used to evaluate the level of cognitive ability in older adults. Moreover, the different types of cognitive tasks challenge different aspects of cognition and impact performance differently. To our knowledge, the accuracy of the TUG test with different types of cognitive tasks still lacks information regarding which cognitive tasks and test outcomes are optimal to use. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the accuracy of the TUG test with different types of cognitive tasks to detect older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). …
Effects Of Home-Based Exercise Using Balance Disc With Smartphone Inclinometer Application Feedback On Sitting Balance And Activity Of Daily Living In Individual With Stroke, Pantawit Aphiphaksakul
Effects Of Home-Based Exercise Using Balance Disc With Smartphone Inclinometer Application Feedback On Sitting Balance And Activity Of Daily Living In Individual With Stroke, Pantawit Aphiphaksakul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background: Sitting ability is critical for daily activities in individuals who have experienced a stroke. A combination of seated balance training on an unstable surface and real-time visual feedback via a simple mobile inclinometer application may improve trunk control in stroke survivors. Objective: This randomized controlled trial aimed to determine the effects of home-based exercise utilizing a balance disc with input from a smartphone inclinometer application on sitting balance and activities of daily living in stroke survivors. Methods: This trial enrolled 32 stroke survivors aged 30 to 75 years. Participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups: intervention or …
The Effect Of Extensible And Non-Extensible Lumbosacral Orthoses On Anticipatory Postural Adjustments In Participants With Low Back Pain And Healthy Controls, Christian Larivière, Richard Preuss
The Effect Of Extensible And Non-Extensible Lumbosacral Orthoses On Anticipatory Postural Adjustments In Participants With Low Back Pain And Healthy Controls, Christian Larivière, Richard Preuss
Études primaires
Background
Wearing a lumbosacral orthosis (LSO) is known to influence spine mechanics, but less is known about how LSOs affect motor control. Whether the use of a LSO can negatively affect motor control of the lumbar spine is still under debate.
Objective
The current study examined the immediate effects of two flexible LSOs (extensible and non-extensible) on the anticipatory postural adjustments that prepare the spine for a predictable perturbation.
Design
A comparative study using a repeated measures design in a laboratory setting.
Methods
Healthy controls (n = 20) and participants with low back pain (n = 40) performed a rapid …
Structural Remodeling Of The Lumbar Multifidus, Thoracolumbar Fascia And Lateral Abdominal Wall Perimuscular Connective Tissues: Medium-Term Test-Retest Reliability Of Ultrasound Measures, Christian Larivière, Dany H. Gagnon, Richard Preuss
Structural Remodeling Of The Lumbar Multifidus, Thoracolumbar Fascia And Lateral Abdominal Wall Perimuscular Connective Tissues: Medium-Term Test-Retest Reliability Of Ultrasound Measures, Christian Larivière, Dany H. Gagnon, Richard Preuss

Abstract
Introduction
Growing interest is being paid to the lumbar multifidus (LM) intramuscular fatty infiltrations and fibrosis that are secondary to low back pain as well to the remodeling of perimuscular connective tissues (fasciae) such as the thoracolumbar fascia and fascia sheets separating the abdominalwall muscles. Magnetic resonanceimaging and computed tomography have traditionally been used but rehabilitative ultrasound imaging (RUSI) is much more affordable and practical, which can accelerate research and clinical applications on this topic. The aim of this study was to test the medium-term (8 weeks) test-retest reliability of the corresponding RUSI measures.
Methods
Thirty-four participants …
