The goal of this review paper is to provide an in-depth literature review behind the causes, diagnosis, associated disorders of CP as well as the treatment interventions that would lead to a comprehensive treatment plan for CP patients. Research suggests employment is a key factor in an individual’s recovery and employer’s views have historically limited opportunities for highly marginalized groups. Objectives: This study provides an analysis of views among employers regarding the hiring of individuals in addiction recovery. Methods: A convenience sample of 382 employers affiliated with the chambers of commerce was recruited to participate in this study. The authors used descriptive and inferential statistical methods to analyze data received through an online questionnaire. Results: The results suggest gender influences the views of employers to hire individuals in recovery. Women are more likely to hire individuals in recovery …

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the perceived effectiveness of stem cells at regenerating cartilage in joints, specifically the knees, hips, and shoulders. In fieldwork sites where no full time OTP is employed, a fieldwork student requires 8 hours a week of onsite supervision from an OTP. An onsite supervisor of another profession must be available while the OTP is offsite. The other professional is unable to answer questions related directly to occupational therapy (OT) practice. This poster describes virtual communication methods used during a level II fieldwork at a community based wellness program for older adults and how these methods translate to OT/OTA supervision in practice.

The purpose of this study is to (1) explore occupational therapy’s role in mental health and (2) investigate the effects of Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation and mindfulness in reducing symptoms of depression, stress or insomnia among college students. This study utilized a pre/posttest design with participants randomized into 2 groups: CES alone (Group A) and mindfulness meditation and CES (Group B). Low-load exercise combined with blood flow restriction (BFR) is known to induce significant gains in muscle strength and size, and this mode of training is increasingly used in both healthy and clinical populations, as documented in the recent review of Patterson et al. (2019). Background: Deltoid muscle function is central in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) function; however, there is limited information available regarding changes in deltoid activity before and after surgery. Few tests exist to evaluate specific muscle metrics pre and post operatively. Surface Electromyographic (EMG) is non-invasive and allows for observation of motions with multifaceted analysis of movement with minimal patient demand. Understanding the changes in shoulder muscle activation, namely in the deltoid, in patients pre and post-RTSA can further advance understanding of the procedure and rehabilitation efforts.

This study intended to evaluate the reliability and validity of a smartphone-based inclinometer application and compare these results to those of the standard clinical goniometer. The study measured the internal shoulder rotation of 19 men and 20 women. One third-year physical therapy student took all the smartphone-based inclinometer measurements, and another took all the clinical standard goniometer measurements. The subjects were randomly placed into set amounts of internal rotation, and then the two measurements were taken. The study found no significant difference between the smartphone-based inclinometer and the goniometer. The reliability between the app and the goniometers was good to …

The primary purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the standing long jump (SLJ) and the single-leg hop (SLH) tests to discriminate lower quadrant (low back and lower extremities) injury occurrence in female collegiate soccer players. The secondary purpose of this study was to determine associations between injury and o-season training habits or anthropometric measures. SLJ, SLH, and anthropometric measures were collected during a preseason screening clinic. Each subject completed a questionnaire providing demographic information and o-season training habits. The utilization of both Positional Release Therapy (PRT) and Mulligan Concept (MC) on secondary school athletes with an apparent acute lateral ankle sprain are presented. Objective: To examine influence of Athletic Trainer (AT) physical appearance and dress attire on student-athletes’ perception of an AT’s competence. Design: Cross-Sectional Study Setting: NATA District 5 Participants: Student athletes (n=156; female: n=71; male: n=78) from NCAA Division III and NAIA institutions participated in the study. Methods: 32 healthy subjects [13 females (age = 21.14 ± 1.70, height = 168.00 ± 9.70 cm, mass = 67.07 ± 16.93) and 16 males (age = 21.78 ± 1.90, height = 180.62 ± 6.09, mass = 88.35 ± 14.66) participated in this study. Methods: Articles were identified from PubMed, CINAHL, Medline, and SportDiscus using the string “((((patellar tendinitis OR patellar tendinopathy))) AND ((cho-pat strap OR infrapatellar strap OR compression device OR brace))) AND pain” from January 2009-January 2019, resulting in nine studies. • Initial evaluation revealed a GCS of 3 with GSW to left arm, left abdomen, left flank, and left skull.
• Initial work up with CT-Head showed extensive subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral edema with residual bullet fragments in the posterior fossa.

• 56-year-old female patient with prior questionable diagnoses of brainstem infarct, multiple sclerosis, and systemic lupus erythematosus who presented to the hospital with progressive dysarthria, lethargy, and weakness.
• MRI noted bilateral demyelinating lesions of the midbrain, pons, and middle cerebellar peduncles as well as nonspecific signal abnormality in the spinal cord at T6-T7.
• Her condition further deteriorated to flaccid complete tetraplegia. Communication was limited to extraocular movements and eye blinking.

Aims: We investigated relationships among the Pediatric Neuromuscular Recovery Scale (Peds NRS), modified Hoffer Scale, and spatiotemporal gait parameters in children with myelomeningocele (MMC).

Methods: 21 children with MMC, age 5.3 years (SD = 2.6), were assessed by three clinicians using the Peds NRS and modified Hoffer Scale. In eight children, gait parameters were also measured.

Results: The Peds NRS summary score demonstrated good correlation with modified Hoffer Scale score (r = -0.64, p = 0.002) that accounted for 41% of variation in summary score. Six Peds NRS seated/standing items exhibited good relationships with modified Hoffer Scale …
