Bladder cancer (BC) is a chronic complication of spinal cord injury (SCI). Limited studies have focused on the risks of BC in SCI patients using voiding function medication for bladder dysfunction. In this retrospective, national-wide, population-based cohort study, SCI patients with registration in the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) from 1998 to 2013 were included. Fracture of the proximal radial head is the most common elbow fracture. However, a non-displaced proximal radial head fracture may be overlooked on plain radiographs. This casereport describes a 52-year-old female patient who sustained a right elbow injury after a traffic accident, with delayed diagnosis of radial head fractures and subsequent nonunion. After 10 sessions of focal extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), the pain and range of motion improved and a sequential x-ray revealed smooth cortical bone and increased density of the proximal radial head. Dysphagia is a common poststroke complication. It is associated with aspiration, malnutrition, dehydration, and disability, and it may increase the risk of pneumonia, and even death. Early diagnosis and treatment of patients with dysphagia reduces not only the aforementioned risks, but also the length of hospitalization and overall healthcare expenditures. Patients with poststroke oropharyngeal dysphagia exhibit highly variable patterns of swallowing abnormalities, and the related symptoms remain challenging to identify clinically. Patients who have experienced stroke should be screened for dysphagia as early as possible on admission and prior to any form of oral intake. Those who fail dysphagia screening …

This study was designed to explore the high-intensity interval training (HIIT) effects on cardiorespiratory fitness as well as the reversal of left ventricle (LV) remodeling, and association between them in heart failure (HF) patients. We included HF patients under our HF care program between 2009 and 2018. The 17 HF patients enrolled in the study were further divided into in-hospital supervised HIIT (n=8) or medical care (control) (n=9) groups according to their preference. Spinal cord injury is associated with a substantial and long-term economic burden on both the patients and the national health insurance. Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease that primarily afflicts older adults. The mainstream management of knee OA involves integrative practice, including patient education, weight reduction, exercise, pharmacological therapy, and non-pharmacological modalities. However, prolotherapy with hypertonic dextrose via either intra-articular or periarticular injection, or a combination of both techniques, has become a strong evidence-based treatment or adjuvant therapy that may be used in addition to conservative management. Objective: The study aimed to examine the effect of rehabilitation on mortality in patients with dengue in intensive care units (ICUs). Design: This was a retrospective cohort study. In this study, 142 patients with dengue from ICUs were enrolled from August to December, 2015. They were divided into two groups: patients with or without rehabilitation. Kienböck's disease of the wrist is a multifactorial, progressive osteonecrosis of the lunate bone. Patients with this disease often complain of dorsal wrist pain and other wrist dysfunctions. 脊髓損傷合併臂神經叢損傷臨床上少見且不易診斷與處置。過去研究的報告發生率約為0.6％到1.8％。在脊髓損傷的病人處置時，通常優先處理危及生命的傷害，且臂神經叢損傷的臨床表現也可能歸因於脊髓損傷而被忽略。本文報告一名55歲因車禍意外導致第四節脊髓損傷的男性病人，根據病人的身體檢查、神經學檢查發現右上肢深肌腱反射無反應，以及明顯不對稱的右上肢與左上肢肌力，經過神經傳導檢查及肌電圖檢查，確定該名病人為脊髓損傷合併臂神經叢損傷。同時罹患脊髓損傷及臂神經叢損傷的病人數量可能被低估，治療計畫及復健也更為複雜，早期診斷與適當治療是此類病人上肢功能恢復的重要關鍵。除了詳細探查脊髓損傷病人的臨床症狀、身體檢查、神經學檢查之外，電學診斷對於合併臂神經叢損傷的確診最有效益。

Plantar fasciopathy is a common problem in the general population involving the proximal area of the central cord of the plantar aponeurosis. Background: Cerebral artery aneurysm rupture is one of the common causes of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage may have some degree of neurological defects and impairment on activity of daily living. Syringomyelia refer to the cavity formation in spinal cord. Possible etiologies may include congenital and acquired types. Patients with syringomyelia may suffer from limb pain and paresthesia. Background: Bedside thyroid cartilage palpation technique is a quick and non-invasive swallowing screening test. However, the correlation between thyroid cartilage movement and penetration/aspiration risks in stroke patients has not been conclusive to date. Therefore, we compared the result of videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) and bedside thyroid cartilage palpation to determine the penetration/ aspiration risks in stroke patients.
