Background

Postnatal growth failure in premature infants is associated with reduced lean mass accretion. Prematurity impairs the feeding-induced stimulation of translation initiation and protein synthesis in the skeletal muscle of neonatal pigs. The objective was to determine whether body weight independently contributes to the blunted postprandial protein synthesis.

Objectives: The use of electronic health record (EHR)-embedded child abuse clinical decision support (CA-CDS) may help decrease morbidity from child maltreatment. We previously reported on the development of CA-CDS in Epic and Allscripts. The objective of this study was to implement CA-CDS into Epic and Allscripts and determine its effects on identification, evaluation, and reporting of suspected child maltreatment.

Introduction. Doctors have greater risk of acquiring COVID-19 due to occupational exposure. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is an essential factor in reducing COVID-19 transmission. We aimed to evaluate the behavior changes of PPE usage among doctors in Indonesia before and after getting COVID-19 infection in early pandemic.

Methods. This was a descriptive online survey with cross-sectional design. This survey was conducted from October-December 2020 among Indonesian doctors who were COVID-19 survivors.

Gastrointestinal parasites cause major health problems in many tropical and sub-tropical countries including Tanzania. However, information on the status of these infections is often scanty, especially among young adults including students in higher learning institutions.  During December 2020 to June 2021, a total of 272 faecal samples from university students at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) were examined for parasites using the Kato Katz technique and analysed for infection levels based on standard guidelines. Detected parasites were identified as Schistosoma mansoni (8.1%), hookworms (1.5%), Trichuris trichiura (0.4%) and Hymenolepis diminuta (0.4%), with an overall prevalence of 10.4%. …

This study aimed to describe the acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine and to discover predictive factors of vaccine acceptance in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study with 164 respondents found that 70.1% would accept the vaccine. Trust in government press releases, perception of infection risk, and age were significant factors. Logistic regression showed a predictive model with 73% performance, highlighting the importance of government trust and evidence-based messaging.

Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium concentration in liquid organic fertilizer can be obtained from organic materials. Liquid organic fertilizer can be made from vegetable waste, charcoal, and gold snail (Pomacea canaliculata L.). This study aimed to know the concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in liquid organic fertilizers of waste vegetable, charcoal and snail. Methods used to test nitrogen was the Kjeldahl method, while potassium and phosphorus tested with spectrophotometer. Vulnerable populations have been shown to be disproportionately impacted by natural disasters, such as hurricanes. Hurricane Michael, a Category 5 storm, in October of 2018 hit the rural and socioeconomically vulnerable area of the Florida Panhandle, causing 50 fatalities in Florida, massive destruction to area including the healthcare infrastructure, and led a prolonged recovery period. This study used stereotactic biopsy data for microcalcifications to evaluate the stepwise implementation of 2Ds in screening mammography.
