Almost 80% of the source of funds is spent on hospital. This situation indicates the failure of the gatekeeper function in primary health care. Performance-based capitation is implemented to ensure the cost and quality of primary care, with non-specialist referral rate as one of the particular parameters. The peer review policy is a discussion between BPJS Health, District/City Health Services, IDI, provincial and branch Team of KMKB and other relevant stakeholders to determine which diagnoses must be handled at FKTP also to accommodate and improve the capacity of FKTP to handle patients and minimize referral cases. Pengaruh Kepemilikan Asuransi Kesehatan Pada Kelompok Miskin Terhadap Utilisasi Pelayanan Kesehatan Di Indonesia: Sebuah Studi Retrospektif, Dian Ira Wanti

Jurnal Ekonomi Kesehatan Indonesia

Health is the main priority of the Indonesian government in order to improve the health status of the Indonesian people in order to become a healthy, qualified and productive society. Health insurance is one of the programs held by the government to make this happen. Health insurance ownership from year to year continues to increase, but this increase is not accompanied by high utilization of health services, both outpatient and inpatient. The low utilization of health services raises the questions of how health insurance ownership affects the utilization of health service utilization. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact …

Jurnal Ekonomi Kesehatan Indonesia

The number of National Health Insurance (JKN) participants receiving Contribution Assistance (PBI) in Tangerang City from regional funding continues to increase by around 8.85% per year. On the other hand, the number of JKN participants who are non-wage earners (PBPU) and non-workers (BP) who pay contributions independently has decreased by around 0.7% per year from 2017-2022. One of the implications of this phenomenon is that the regional budget to finance JKN contributions for PBI participants is much larger than the budget for other programs. In 2020, JKN contribution payments for Tangerang City APBD PBI participants amounted to 57.81%, in 2021 …

Health Insurance Determinants Of The Working-Class, Lall Ramroo

Student Theses

Abstract:

This research delves into healthcare coverage disparities within the working class, spotlighting challenges in accessing essential services. Leveraging data from the 2021 American Community Survey, we scrutinize coverage intricacies for those above Medicaid eligibility yet unable to afford private insurance. Findings unveil a worrisome trend: the working class faces limited healthcare access due to income thresholds, placing them in precarious situations. Those earning too much for Medicaid but lacking private insurance means or employer-sponsored coverage grapple with significant obstacles. This paper underscores the need for targeted policies to bridge healthcare gaps for the working class, advocating for equitable access …

Faculty and Staff Scholarship

A significant proportion of people living with HIV (PLWH) have cognitive impairment. Moreover, approximately 70% of PLWH in the United States will be ≥50 years old by 2030, raising concerns of a higher incidence of dementia as they age. Accordingly, there is a clinical need to monitor their cognitive status. The aim of this study was to delineate specific cognition areas impacted in OALWH with a clinical diagnosis of neurocognitive impairment. We used a comprehensive set of tests (paper and NIH Toolbox Cognition Battery), to assess different cognitive domains in a total of 25 OALWH ≥ 50 years. 64% were …

Comparing The Effectiveness Of Mother-Focused Interventions To That Of Mother-Child Focused Interventions In Improving Maternal Postpartum Depression Outcomes: A Systematic Review, Divya Kumar, Waqas Hameed, Bilal Iqbal Avan

Community Health Sciences

Background: Most empirically researched interventions for postpartum depression (PPD) tend to target mothers' depression alone. Harmful effects of PPD on physical and mental health of both mother and child has led researchers to investigate the impact of interventions on PPD and child outcomes together. So far, the evidence is limited regarding how these interventions compare with those focusing only on mothers' depression. This review compares the effectiveness of PPD-improving interventions focusing only on mothers with those focusing on mother and child together.
Methods: Nine electronic databases were searched. Thirty-seven studies evaluating mother-focused (n = 30) and mother-child focused interventions (n …

Where Did All The Bed Bugs Go?, Lauren Friedman Dec 2023

Where Did All The Bed Bugs Go?, Lauren Friedman

Capstones

In the early 2000s in New York City, everyone was talking about bed bugs. The disc-shaped, bloodsucking pests had been a common domestic nuisance up to the World War II era, but in the decades since, they’d mostly faded into obscurity. That was until bed bug infestations, which are often psychologically distressing and sometimes impossible to overcome, suddenly became routine across the five boroughs, driving people from their apartments and stoking fear about everything from upholstered theater seats to thrift stores.

But then, just as quickly as bed bugs had invaded, they seemed to fade away. In a 2022 study …

Background Sexual violence (SV) is a significant, global public health problem, particularly among young adults. Promising interventions exist, including prosocial bystander intervention programs that train bystanders to intervene in situations at-risk for SV. However, these programs suffer from critical weaknesses: (1) they do not address the proximal effect of alcohol use on bystander decision-making and (2) they rely on self-report measures to evaluate outcomes. To overcome these limitations, we integrate new content specific to alcohol use within the context of prosocial bystander intervention into an existing, evidence-based program, RealConsent1.0. The resulting program, RealConsent2.0, aims to facilitate bystander behavior …
