This study evaluates the in vivo pharmacokinetics of triple-drug gastro-retentive formulation (metronidazole- Plantago ovata seed mucilage/ clarithromycin- Abelmoschus esculentus fruit mucilage/enteric-coated pantoprazole) for Helicobacter pylori eradication, with a focus on pharmacokinetic parameters (e.g., relative bioavailability vs. conventional doses) as the true contribution. In a cross over study using six rabbits, plasma concentrations of metronidazole, clarithromycin, and pantoprazole sodium were measured via High Performance Liquid Chromatography technique, and pharmacokinetic parameters were determined. A single dose of the optimized formulation (C-8) produced optimal drug levels, with a mean Cmax of 24.36 ± 0.84 μg/mL and tmax at 6 hours. The other pharmacokinetic …

Comparative Analysis Of Tuberculosis Treatment Costs: Drug-Resistant Vs. Drug-Sensitive Cases In Vietnam, Thi-Kim-Thang Dao, Dao Dinh, Mai-Hien Chuc, Hai-Anh Ha

Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy Cairo University

This study analyses the economic and clinical implications of treating pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), focusing on direct treatment costs and patient outcomes at Da Nang Hospital for Lung Diseases in Vietnam. Data were collected from 448 inpatient TB cases throughout 2022, encompassing both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant forms of TB. Analysis revealed that drug-resistant TB patients incur significantly higher treatment costs compared to those with drug-sensitive TB, with costs escalating further among older adults and patients with multiple comorbid conditions. Specifically, treatment for drug-resistant TB averaged $463.84 per patient, significantly surpassing the $217.09 average for drug-sensitive cases, indicating the economic burden posed …

Centella asiatica is one of the well-known herbal species used in traditional medicine across Asia such as India, Indonesia, and China. It had been used as a medicinal plant for hundreds of years. Besides its general pharmacological activities such as neuroprotection, anti-cancer and anti-diabetes. It demonstrated effective dermatological actions as being a potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, healing and moisturizing properties. The major constituents responsible for these effects were triterpenoids. Triterpenoids included asciaticoside which was reported to induce collagen synthesis. Madecassoside was known for its wound healing properties. It was well known for its efficiency in improving the treatment of hypertrophic wounds. …

The samples were then identified by macroscopic and microscopical methods, Molecular fingerprinting, of Cladosporium strains populations depending on MP-PCR using Primers (AGG) 5 , (CAG) 5 , (GACA) 4 , and (AG) 8 C. In addition, we have applied the UP-PCR technique using L21 and Fok1 Genotyping patterns extracted by MP-PCR showed good discrimination with amplification of (AGG) 5 , (AG) 8 C and (CAG) 5 over (GACA) 4. In addition, L21 primer revealed variability over FOK1 primer. current work indicate that MP-PCR and UP-PCR fingerprinting method are appropriate for characterization of large groups of Cladosporium due to its simplicity
