The development of natural cosmetic raw materials as anti-aging agents is one area of research that receives significant attention. Secondary metabolites and extracts from plants have been widely studied and found to possess anti-aging activity. Previous research yielded results showing very strong antioxidant activity of the extract and fractions of namnam leaves. This study aims to analyze the metabolite from the strongest fraction from antioxidant activity and analyze the interaction of flavonoid metabolites with elastase enzymes in silico. A cross-sectional geospatial analysis mapped active South Carolina community pharmacies and used 2020 Census tract data to estimate the population residing within and beyond five-mile pharmacy service areas. About one in six South Carolinians lives more than five miles from an active community pharmacy, with limited access disproportionately affecting rural communities.

Decaffeinated green coffee and turmeric are recognized for their protective effects against hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Combining them into a functional drink, green coffee and turmeric (GCT), offers potential health benefits for managing these conditions. This study explored the bioactivity of GCT in HTN and DM through network biology, identifying intersecting protein targets and their roles in inflammation and glucose metabolism. Key proteins identified were AKT1, CCL2, CXCL8, IL-1β, and IL18. Molecular docking revealed that GCT compounds, particularly Cafestol, Chlorogenic Acid, Kahweol, Curcumin, and Desmethoxycurcumin, interacted strongly with AKT1 at its allosteric site, potentially inhibiting its activity. The Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB) was established to advise the government on strategies to mitigate antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and its increasing threat to public health and national security. Its members included experts from diverse disciplines such as healthcare, veterinary medicine, industry, public health, and agriculture who were positioned to interface with key stakeholders and the public in an aspirational multidisciplinary approach to combating AMR. Copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) have attracted growing attention in nanomedicine owing to their distinctive physicochemical, optical, and biological properties. Their large surface area, tunable size, ease of surface modification, and low cost make them attractive candidates for drug delivery, where they can both improve delivery efficiency and enable stimuli-responsive release. CuNPs also possess intrinsic antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and photothermal activities, further broadening their biomedical utility. Abstract

Introduction:

Opioid overdose is a pressing public health concern in the United States. In 2022, prescription opioids were involved in 15% of all opioid deaths.1 Despite CDC recommendations for prescribing naloxone to high-risk patients, primary care physicians prescribe only 1.5 naloxone prescriptions per 100 prescriptions of high-dose opioids.2,3 Strategies are needed for healthcare institutions to expand naloxone access and mitigate opioid-related harm. This pilot study assesses the impact of a pharmacist-led quality improvement patient outreach initiative on increasing naloxone prescribing for adult patients taking ≥ 50 MME per day of prescription opioids as recommended by current CDC guidelines.

Background: Patients with congenital heart disease who have previously undergone right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) surgery frequently require repeat valve replacement later in life. While transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) offers less invasive reintervention compared with surgery, its high device cost raises concerns about affordability under Indonesia’s National Health Insurance Program (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional).
Objectives: To compare the cost-effectiveness of surgical pulmonary valve replacement (SPVR) versus TPVR in post-RVOT surgery patients, and to estimate the TPVR price threshold for cost-effectiveness from a societal perspective.

Background: Diphtheria remains endemic in parts of Thailand and continues to threaten unvaccinated populations. To strengthen vaccine self-sufficiency, the Government Pharmaceutical Organization has developed in-house diphtheria–tetanus–pertussis (DTP) and diphtheria– tetanus (dT) vaccines. Potency testing of diphtheria toxoid is traditionally performed in guinea pigs; however, limitations in animal availability, cost, and logistics have prompted evaluation of alternative models.

Background: Dandruff is a common scalp disorder associated with altered sebum secretion and microbial imbalance, particularly between Cutibacterium and Staphylococcus, which correlates with disease severity.
Objectives: This study aimed to develop and optimize a multifunctional leave-on hair and scalp spray with anti-dandruff, nourishing, and protective properties.

The rise in use of herbal and dietary supplements, which are regulated as food rather than as drugs by the Food and Drug Association, poses the risk of unknown and potentially severe side effects. We describe the case of acute liver injury, characterized by significant elevation in AST and ALT, likely induced by the consumption of an over-the-counter supplement containing alpha lipoic acid (ALA). Online pharmacies improve access to medicines by offering convenient ordering and home delivery, but their growth also creates important risks for medication safety and public health. This review examines the benefits and hazards associated with online medicine supply, including access without a valid prescription, falsified and substandard products, inappropriate medicine use, privacy breaches, and weak cross-border regulatory oversight. Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive disorder frequently complicated by anemia and a persistent inflammatory state, both of which significantly contribute to morbidity and mortality. Reduced renal production of erythropoietin (EPO) is the primary cause of anemia in CKD. Emerging evidence suggests that EPO may exert anti-inflammatory and metabolic effects beyond its hematopoietic role. Cancer immunotherapy has emerged as a transformative therapeutic strategy that harnesses the host immune system to recognize and eliminate malignant cells. This review provides a comprehensive overview of current immunotherapeutic approaches, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), cancer vaccines, dendritic cell (DC)-based vaccines, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy, and oncolytic virus therapy. The mechanisms of action, therapeutic applications, and clinical benefits of each modality are discussed. Monoclonal antibodies selectively target tumor-associated antigens, whereas ICIs restore antitumor immunity by blocking inhibitory immune checkpoints. Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease affecting the joints which eventually leads to systemic comorbidities. Its pathogenesis was attributed to disturbances in the Janus Kinase/Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription signaling pathway. In this research, an innovative lead compound C6 was created and docked toward Janus Kinase1 (JAK1). The docking process was confirmed by re-docking of the co-crystallized ligand MI1 (Tofacitinib). C6 showed a predicted docking score of -9.17 kcal/mol, with enhancement of 1.26 kcal/mol over Tofacitinib. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition requiring continuous treatment, including patient adherence to prescribed medication. This study aimed to explore the relationship between medication adherence, blood glucose levels, and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Ciamis Regional Hospital, conducted from January to March 2025, the research employed a quantitative, prospective cross-sectional design involving 49 hospitalized patients. Bloodstream infections are an important cause of morbidity and mortality, while antimicrobial resistance limits treatment options. This retrospective study evaluated bacterial distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility in blood cultures at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, using microbiology and medical record data from January-December 2019. Clinically significant isolates were included, while duplicates and contaminants were excluded. Identification and susceptibility testing followed standard procedures and CLSI 2019 guidelines. Data were analyzed descriptively. Among 482 isolates, 246 (51.0%) were Gram-positive and 236 (49.0%) were Gram-negative. The field of study on extracellular vesicles (EVs) has recently focused on probiotic bacteria, due to their ability to exhibit a wide variety of biological activity. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effect of nutrient modulation during Lacticaseibacillus paracasei cultivation on EVs production and bioactivity. EVs were isolated by ultrafiltration method and were characterized using NTA and cryo-TEM. An in vitro evaluation was used to assess the bioactivities, antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory potential, and ability to inhibit α-glucosidase activity. Background

Nicotine pouches (NPs) are a rapidly growing category of tobacco-free oral nicotine products increasingly available in the community, including pharmacies. Whether NPs primarily function as harm-reduction tools for existing tobacco users or as a novel initiation pathway into nicotine and tobacco use, particularly among youth, remains a critical and unresolved clinical and public health question.

Objectives

To synthesize current evidence on the pharmacology, harm-reduction potential, and initiation risk of NPs; to compare NPs with U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved nicotine replacement therapy and combustible cigarettes; and to identify implications and counseling priorities for pharmacy practice.
