Background: There are insufficient data in the United States regarding patient awareness and expectations of hospital pharmacist availability and services.
Objective: The objective of this research is to assess patient awareness and expectations of hospital pharmacist services and to determine whether a marketing campaign for pharmacist services increases patient awareness and expectations.
Methods: Eligible inpatients were surveyed before and after implementation of a hospital-wide pharmacist services marketing campaign (12 items; Likert scale of 1 [strongly disagree] to 4 [strongly agree]; maximum total score of 48) regarding awareness of pharmacist services. Background
Preconception care, including family planning, is a vital component of healthcare for women of reproductive age. An average female spends the majority of her reproductive life trying to prevent a pregnancy. In order to prevent unintended pregnancy, women often rely on the use of hormonal contraceptives. In the United States, the majority of hormonal contraceptive users are prescribed oral contraceptive pills (OCPs). Reduced adherence to OCPs decreases their ability to prevent pregnancy. The study aimed to measure OCP adherence among female college students, and explore the relationship between OCP adherence, knowledge, and self-efficacy.

Objective: The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Standards 2016 encourage student pharmacists to examine and reflect on attributes necessary for professional and personal growth. Data from an AACP survey of recent graduates also indicated perceived deficiencies in career planning. Therefore, an elective course was created for 5th year students (0-6 program) to encourage self-assessment and preparation for post-graduate employment and personal development. The objective of this poster is to describe important elements of this course to aid faculty at other intuitions.

Objective: Evaluate impact of various admission criteria elements (cognitive, behavioral) as predictors of first-term college GPA and on-time graduation.
Methods & Results: Predictive models were developed to examine if the current admission criteria: high school GPA (HSGPA), ACT Composite score, interview score, etc are significant predictors for student success defined as first-term college GPA, on-time graduation among PharmD students at a direct entry private university. The study sample consisted of 395 pharmacy students matriculated as first-time freshmen students during fall 2007 through fall 2009. Objectives. The purpose of this descriptive investigation was to determine the perceived knowledge of and attitudes toward natural products by pharmacists in Missouri. Methods. A questionnaire was mailed to 2921 licensed pharmacists. Assessments were conducted regarding the venues and specific resources these pharmacists utilized in order to gain knowledge in the area of natural products. Results. Over half (56.9%) of those surveyed indicated that they received natural product questions on a weekly basis, but only a minority (2.4%) felt they could “always answer natural product questions.” The most commonly used means for education was printed continuing education (70.2%). Objective. The purpose of this study was to describe pharmacy school curriculum offerings in the areas of natural products and complementary/alternative medicine. Methods. Eighty-one schools of pharmacy in the United States were surveyed to determine the extent to which coursework addressing natural product or complementary/alternative medicine had been incorporated into their curriculum. Results. Usable responses were obtained from 64 schools (79 percent). Of these, 51 schools offered some exposure to these topics, while 40 offered courses exclusively on these topics. Most of these schools offered this instruction as an elective course focused primarily on natural products. Conclusion. These results indicate …
